About this mod Machine translation

New thunder and internal rain sounds. Thunder volume slider. Less thunder and more random thunder. Volumetric lighting during weather transitions fixed.

***Climate requiring TAMRIEL***

The default sounds in Tamriel SE Climates were not to my taste, so I made some new ones.

I always thought there was too much thunder, now it's reduced by 30%. In theory, it should be more random and the thunder should disappear during conversations.

The weather transitions were also set too long, resulting in "hard lines" in the volumetric lighting during transitions. I just set them back to the default vanilla values. This solves the volumetric lighting problem. This mod does not resolve sudden weather transitions, this is an engine bug and has nothing to do with this mod.

As of CoT 5.7SE, LightningFX's volume slider doesn't seem to work (technically it does, but only for the special lightning spells used by CoT), and the thunder volume is tied to the effect slider. I've assigned all thunder sounds to their own category, which I call 'thunder' (derp).

This mod uses content from my other mod: Alternate Sounds for Tamriel SE Climates. I decided to put all the fixes into a mod.

Sound demo:

***SSE Engine Mounting Highly Recommended***

Volume levels for new Thunder sliders are not saved unless the SSE engine fix is installed. This is a game engine error. This is not a bug of this mod.

Install

Install as usual using the mod manager of your choice, to install manually, just copy the files into the data directory.

Place this mod so that it loads after Tamriel Climates in your load order.

compatibility

Skyrim SE's Audio Overhaul - Loads this mode after Skyrim SE's Audio Overhaul.

As for now, this mod is only compatible with Tamriel 5.7SE's Climates. It may work with other versions.

As for other conflicting mods, you may have issues with any confusion with ambient thunder. I'm currently using Immersive Sounds: Compendium and it works fine.

uninstall

Every installation should be secure. If you are paranoid:

  • Go indoors. (Appropriate indoors, as in a house or cave.)
  • Save your game. (You can go back to it just in case.)
  • Open the console (~) and enter 'fw 81a'
  • Save again.
  • Exit the game.
  • Uninstall in the mod manager, or delete all files in this mod from the data directory.
  • Reload save from step 4.

How to Force Stormy Weather

Save your game. Press the tilde (~) to bring up the console. Enter 'fw 1044831'. Don't mess with the console if you don't know what you're doing.

Thanks and enjoy.

***CLIMATES OF TAMRIEL IS REQUIRED***

The default sounds in Climates of Tamriel SE were not to my taste, so I made some new ones.

I always thought there was too much thunder, so it is now decreased by 30%. Theoretically it should be much more random, and thunder sounds should now fade during dialogue too.

The weather transitions also were set too long, resulting in a 'hard line' of volumetric lighting when transitioning. I simply set these back to the default vanilla values. This fixes the volumetric lighting issue. This mod does not fix sudden weather transitions, that is an engine bug, and has nothing to do with this mod.

As of CoT 5.7SE, the volume slider for LightningFX does not appear to work (Technically it does, but only for the special lightning spell CoT uses) and the thunder volume is tied to the effects slider. I have assigned all thunder sounds to their own category, which I called 'Thunder' (derp).

This mod uses content from my other mod: Alternative Sounds for Climates of Tamriel SE. I decided to throw all of my fixes into a single mod.

Sound Demo:

***SSE ENGINE FIXES IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***

Volume levels for the new 'Thunder' slider will not be saved unless SSE Engine Fixes is installed. This is a game engine bug. It is not a bug with this mod.

INSTALLATION

Install as usual using your mod manager of choice, for manual installation, simply copy the files into the data director …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
