Change the armor of the guards to different types of armor (e.g. the Hermitage uses steel armor, Markarth-dwarf armor, etc.)

This mod changes the armor of guards in a specific ward to different types of armor and weapons (listed below). I made this mod because I've always felt that the guards have very little visual personality, especially behind those full face helmets. I also made it so that the civil war guards (the nationals who take over as you conquer more camps) in every camp except in Haafingar and Eastmarch now use their camp's new armor and weapons.

Change list:

Eastmarch Guards are available in both sleeveless and sleeved versions of the regular Eastmarch Guard suit, as they are required to have storm cloaks anyway, so wearing the militia uniform is appropriate. They use normal horizontal weapon holsters.

Due to the hunting environment of the fortress and its relatively (warmer) climate, the Forkas guards wear scale armor. They use old default level weapons based on the state of the civil war.

Haafingar Guards wear full Imperial plate armor with enclosed helmets. I've always felt that the enclosed Imperial Heavy Helmet was underused. They use standard imperial gears.

The Hjaalmarch guards wear ancient Norse armor that is unavailable to players. In the wet terrain and the almost exclusive community of Morthal, this armored equipment feels right at home, especially given their very "traditional" value. Regardless of the state of the civil war, they all wield ancient northern weapons.

The pale guards wear Norse carved armor, as there is a famous mercury mine in Dawnstar, and the large fur collars go well with the cooler climate there. They used Norse weapons to complement their armor.

The rearguard who reached the Reach used dwarven armor and weapons because...apparently. What more do you want to give them?

Due to Maven's influence in the city and the presence of the guild, guards in the Rift wear Thieves' Guild armor that is unobtainable. They also wear the Variant02 hood, which is a larger hood that matches the default armor (I'm not sure if it can be obtained from their corpses/pickpockets). They use standard weapons based on the state of the civil war.

Because of the history of Dragonsreach and the first battles with dragons in Whiterun Hold (and my personal opinion that Whiterun is the best city), Whiterun Guards wear Dragonscale breastplates with Dragonplate helmets, boots, and gauntlets. Regardless of the state of the civil war, they all use keel weapons to match their armor.

Winter Wardens now carry shields, making them much less rare. They use a full set of steel armor and weapons.

I also changed Balgruuf's armor to Dragonplate with a dragon bone sword.

This mod changes the armours of hold guards in specific hold to different types of armours and weapons (listed below). I made this mod because I always felt the guards had very little visual personality, especially behind those full face helmets. I have also made it so that every hold's Civil War Guards (the ones that take over as you conquer more holds) now use their hold's new armours and weapons, except in Haafingar and Eastmarch.

List of changes:

Eastmarch Guards have both sleeveless and sleeved versions of the normal Eastmarch Guard set, seeing as they are esentiall Stormcloaks anyways, and having them wear militia uniforms is appropriate. They use their normal levelled weapon sets.

Falkreath Guards wear Scaled Armour due to the hold's prime environment for hunting and its (relatively) warmer climate. They use their old default levelled weapons based on the state of the Civil War.

Haafingar Guards wear full Imperial plate and have the closed helmets. I always felt that the closed-face Imperial heavy helmet went under-used. They use standard Imperial gear.

Hjaalmarch Guards wear Ancient Nord Armour that is unobtainable by the player. The armour set feels at home in the swampy terrain and nearly xenophobic community that i …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
