A better shaped weapon for LeanWolf (the mod will still technically work without it, but the sword may look weird) - Permission granted to make this required

This is a lot to ask for a mod that basically adds a sword (and some armor, but that's not really the point), but to me it's bare bones.

Overview

Inspired by (mostly) the terrifying "double-edged" weapons from gaming history, namely: Soul Reaver (Legacy of Khaine), Blackrazor (DnD), Blacksaber (Ultima) and of course Stormbringer (Legend of Elric, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCxL3-Fl7bM).

If you've discovered the nature of your dragonborn (re: Summoned by Ashes) and you're powerful enough to draw some attention (re: level 25), you might be ambushed after midnight by a figure wandering the wilderness of Skyrim in holy armor (for some, armor wielding a strange black sword). If you can defeat your attacker (hint: fire and silver might work), you can try to pick up the Dark Blade.

If the sword deems you worthy, you can take it out and realize that it is not as powerful as it was when it was used against you. It lies dormant and needs to be stirred. Once you wake up and feed a stable intelligent soul, it will provide you with many powerful abilities.

As the newly elected "King of Blades," you and the dark weapon are inseparable. You can summon the sword at will. However, maintaining sword authority in Nirn is taxing and requires a certain amount of concentration (draining Magicka). When your magic is exhausted, the sword will disappear back to whatever realm it came from. If the sword is adequate (more on that later), it may share the load and relieve stress. Feeding the sword will restore some mana, allowing you to extend it. Learning the sword's name will allow you to summon it with Thu'um, although the cost of maintaining it still applies.

The final sword might be considered OP when fully upgraded, but due to the amount of work you need to put in, I would hardly call it cheating.

Blade's Hunger

Using blades against intelligent (or higher, or... stranger) enemies will quickly remind you of the anachronistic nature of symbiotic (/parasitic) weapons. It devoured. It has no traps. This is not your friend. It doesn't care about your charisma. The enchantment bar in the lower right corner of the UI represents the sword's satiety.

**Don't think you can trick the blade by feeding it soul gems. It has a special taste. Those in distress will be abandoned without any nourishment. Only fresh prey can do that.

If the blade's hunger has been awakened, when fully fed, the sword is your symbiotic companion and will go from being weaker than an iron greatsword to being sharper than a fully tempered keel. When it becomes empty, it turns on you, using its connection with you to weaken you, making you easier to kill, and hopefully find a more malleable "master"! In addition, depending on the diet, the sword will lend you a set of abilities, including but not limited to: summoning the sword from home to attack distant enemies, causing attacks to pass through you without damage, drawing distant enemies within arm's (sword) reach, swallowing the sun's rays when drawn, and more!

All skills must be unlocked and belong to the smallest, smaller, larger and darker levels. In the sword's current weakened state, only one ability per level can be active. If someone feeds it with many powerful souls over a long period of time, then...

Active abilities can be selected through the mod's MCM.

Wise mortal souls will satisfy the blade's hunger, but to truly restore the blade, you must find ancient and powerful wisdom and feed them to the sword. Even alien intelligence can be provided.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
