This was originally posted around 2012, I just copied it to make it easier for people to manage NMM ;)
I'm looking for a silent sound replacement, not because I don't like the sound of vanilla, but because it's so noisy! Unfortunately, I don't like any of the ones I find.
So this one is for those who didn't quarrel with the vanilla sound except for the fact that it was too noisy :) I then simply reduced the amplitude of the Audacity sound.
I also reduced the dagger sounds for cunning characters who didn't want the entire dungeon to hear them when they were outgassing.
Manual installation: Extract in Skyrim folder.
NMM installation: just click to download! Very simple.

I was looking for an unsheathing sound replacement, not because I dislike the vanilla sound, but because it's too damn loud! Unfortunately I didn't like any of the ones I found.
So this one is for the people who don't have any quarrel with the vanilla sound EXCEPT for the fact that it's way too damn loud:) I then simply reduced the amplitude of the sounds in Audacity.
I also reduced the dagger sound for stealthy characters who don't want to feel like the whole dungeon should hear them when they unsheathe.
MANUAL INSTALLATION: Extract in Skyrim folder.
NMM INSTALLATION: Just click download! Easy peasy.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
