by Quicksilver500·v1.1·Updated 2019-01-22

This mod adds a Fortify Bound Weapons enchantment to the game, compatible with all mods that add new bound weapons. Includes a new unique necklace. This enchantment is the same as Fortify One Handed etc., but instead of buffing a weapon type, it buffs whatever weapon you have equipped as long as it's a bound weapon.

First of all I just want to say a huge thank you to Kiaos for porting this mod to SSE for me, show him some love and give him a small kudos :D

Binding weapons sucks. They just do it. They're really, really bad, and it's almost impossible to justify using them, which is bad because they look so neat. That's why I've been trying to make a mod that could add enough incentive to justify using them. This inspiration comes in the form of magic and can be applied to any armor to which you would normally apply the Enhanced Weapon enchantment. This enchantment increases the damage done by bound weapons and bound weapons, regardless of what type of weapon they are. This can be very useful when you're playing a mage character and don't want to use too many enchantment slots, but still want to shoot people with sneaky ethereal arrows and fight their heads off with big fiery ghosts. There are many advantages to this kind of enchantment, which I think are the advantages of using it instead of a normal strengthening enchantment, they are this:

The basic fee is lower than Fortify One and Two hands etc.

The enchantment increases all bound weapons regardless of type

Basic enchantments, the enchantments you use to enchant your own stuff, are above vanilla enhanced one-handed and two-handed basic enchantments.

The talismans you find in the game with this enchantment have a higher power than the corresponding one-handed and two-handed base enchantments of the same level, which is explained more clearly in the table below.

There are three versions of this mod, one gives an extra 10% more equipped weapons than the vanilla empowering enchantment, one gives an extra 25% more damage, and another gives an extra 40% more damage. This table shows the strength of each leveled enchantment added to the world in each version of this edition, along with the corresponding values from Vanilla One Handed Enchantment, depending on how powerful you want the enchantment to be.

Of course, you can always dispel the talismans you find and create your own wacky enchantments in the comfort of your own house!

I have added a new necklace model to this mod, the Ethereal bound necklace. This enchantment is unique to this mod and can be seen in the images section or in the top bar.

Skyrim enchantments can be found on the new amulets shown in the images section. These amulets have been added to two level lists related to magic necklaces, so these necklaces should appear wherever normal magic necklaces would. Keep in mind that level lists are tricky, and in order to make this mod's level list effects compatible with others, you should create merged patches for the load order if there are conflicts. This conflict won't crash your game or anything nearby, but it's still a pain in the ass. Regardless, there will be a leveled necklace guaranteed to drop in Fellglow Keep, adding a Strongbox to the Dungeon area as shown in the image section.

If you want a non-magical version of this necklace, you can add it to your character's inventory using the following code:

Player.additem XX00287c 1

Where 'XX' is the load sequence number of this mod.

If you are sure that no other mods affect the necklace level list, there should be no compatibility issues. I know it's bad modding etiquette to manually add stuff to the level list, but I can't for the life of me find any tutorials on how to do it properly, all the ones I can find say 'don't do it' without explaining how to do it any other way, not very helpful... However, this should be compatible with all weapons that add bound weapons themselves, thanks to an unusual stroke of Creation Kit luck. It seems like sometimes you …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
