Changes the damage multiplier with Sneak Attack so that it depends on your character's level in the Stealth skill. The stealth damage perk also lets your stealth attacks overcome the target's armor class, much like Oblivion's old perk.

Stealth attack damage progression

In vanilla Skyrim (and I suppose in all Bethesda games), stealth attack damage is a bit static for my tastes. Some game settings define the base multiplier for each weapon, and additional advantages can be built on top of it, but overall it's a great buff that all characters can take advantage of for surprise attacks, no matter how cunning you actually are.

Specifically, one-handed weapon types have multipliers set to x3, while two-handed, fist, and ranged weapons have x2. The Backstab perk boosts the multiplier by x2 to x6 for one-handed weapons, Deadly Aim boosts it by x1.5 to x3 for ranged weapons, and Assassin's Blade further boosts it by x2.5 to x15 for daggers.

This mod reduces all base multipliers to x1, so there is no inherent damage bonus to stealth attacks, but players who increase this multiplier as your stealth skills progress, and possibly you learn how to target and hit more vulnerable spots. Sneak attack multiplier will be increased by 2% per level for one-handed weapons and 1% for other weapons. Once you reach skill level 100 in Sneak, the base damage multiplier will be the same as vanilla.

The above perks were also changed to adjust their descriptions and give them an interesting effect. For various weapons and not just the ones they refer to, each impact will gradually make you ignore the target's armor in stealth attacks. Backstab makes stealth attacks ignore 33% of the target's armor, Deadly Target increases this to 66%, and Assassin's Blade makes stealth attacks ignore any and all armor levels. Just like the old master sneak attack from Oblivion.

This mod uses a small script to simply add new damage progression perks to your character. It edits the three declared privileges, assuming a vanilla setup, so I don't have any clue or concern about compatibility with Ordinator etc. These might add more interesting stuff. The file is marked .esl so it shouldn't hurt your load order capacity.

I may reconsider this once I figure out how MCM works here, allowing for custom multiplier progression. Anyway, enjoy.

Sneak Attack Damage Progression

In vanilla Skyrim (and I suppose in all Bethesda games in general), sneak attack damage is a bit static for my tastes. A few game settings define the base multiplier for each kind of weapon, on which perks can build up as well, but the overall is a big buff from which all characters can make good use of for surprise attacks, regardless of how sneaky you actually are.

To be specific, one handed weapon types have the multiplier set as x3, while two handed, fists and ranged weapons have x2. The Backstab perk raises the multiplier by x2 to x6 for one handed weapons, Deadly Aim raises it by x1.5 to x3 for ranged weapons, and Assassin's Blade further raises it by x2.5 to x15 for daggers.

This mod lowers all base multipliers to x1, so there's no inherent damage bonus from sneak attacks, but instead adds a perk to the player that raises this multiplier as your skill in Sneak progresses, and presumably you learn how to target and hit the more vulnerable spots. Your sneak attack multiplier will raise by 2% for one handed weapons with every level in Sneak, and 1% for other weapons. Once you reach skill level 100 in Sneak, the base damage multiplier will be the same as the vanilla one.

The aforementioned perks are also changed to adjust their description, and give them an interesting effect. Each perk will allow you to progressively ignore more of the target's armor in your sneak attacks, for all kinds of weapons and not just the one they refer to. Backstab makes sneak attacks ignore 33% of the target's armor, Deadly Aim raises this to 66%, and Assassin's Blad …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
