About this mod Machine translation

Make sure to create a backup of your NIF beforehand!
Don't run it on the entire grid folder at once.
Only use head parts on head parts, no exceptions!
So it's better to temporarily copy/paste all heads, eyes, hair into separate folders for optimization.
Things like helmets are regular meshes, not heads.
If the NIFs are already in SSE format, the tool will also optimize them, but it won't perform as much cleaning.
Please note that SSE-formatted NIF files no longer work with older versions of Skyrim.
Please let me know if there is a problem with the NIF and if possible please provide the files before and after optimization.
If this tool helps you with your mod, it would be cool if you could give it points, but of course not required. :)
Source code address:
What it can do:
Optimized NIF to new SSE format (BSTriShape, changed to NiSkinPartition).
Optimize header to BSDynamicTriShape (separate checkbox).
Triangle geometry and skin partitioning.
Clean up NiSkinData (source of unused vertex weights in the game).
Computes the geometry and a new bounding sphere for all bones.
Adds tangent lines to all meshes that require it.
Remove normals and tangents from all meshes that don't need them, such as text meshes.
Removes the all-white vertex color from the mesh.
Rename all meshes with the same name as they must be unique.
Clean title string.
Delete all blocks that are not referenced somewhere in the root node tree.
All of this results in a hopefully working NIF that is cleaned up and has a smaller file size.
Applies to NIFs already in SSE format.
The format can be reverted to LE.
Scan textures for SSE compatibility.
Things to remember:
SSE has less accuracy for UV coordinates, so if you happen to find a mesh that uses coordinates outside of the 0.0 - 1.0 range, you should probably use NifSkope to reposition the UVs before optimizing.
Install:
This cannot and does not need to be installed with a mod manager as it is a utility for modders.
Simply download the archive, unzip the executable and run it, then follow the on-screen instructions.
uninstall:
There is no uninstall process, just delete the executable file from your computer.
SSE NIF Optimizer
a tool to optimize Skyrim NIFs for SSE
Description:
This is a tool for mod authors to optimize your LE.nif files for the new SSE format (and back) and fixes issues along the way.
Can also scan textures for compatibility.
Make sure to create backups of your NIFs beforehand!
Don't run it on your entire meshes folder at once.
Use the head parts option on ONLY head parts, without exception!
So it's better to temporarily copy/paste all those heads, eyes, hairs to a separate folder for optimization.
Things like helmets are regular meshes, not head parts.
If a NIF is already in the SSE format, the tool optimizes them as well, but it doesn't perform as many cleanup operations.
Note that SSE-formatted NIF files do NOT work in the old Skyrim any longer.
To view the new NIF format in NifSkope, you will need the very latest version currently found here:
NifSkope releases by jonwd7
Please let me know if there are any problems with a NIF and if possible, provide the files before and after optimization.
If this tool helped you with your mod, it would be cool if you could give it credits, but that's not required of course.:)
For the source code, you can check out the BodySlide and Outfit Studio repository on GitHub instead.
They share the same functionality with the exception of the UI.
What it does:
Optimizes NIFs to the new SSE format (BSTriShape, changes to NiSkinPartition).
Optimizes head parts to BSDynamicTriShape (separate checkbox).
Triangulates the geometry and skin partitions.
Cleans up the NiSkinData (source for vertex weights that are unused in-game).
Calculates new bounding spheres for geometry and all of the bones.
Adds tangents to all meshes that need them.
Removes normals and tangents …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
