About this mod Machine translation
Made with Racemenu and High Poly Head, the Vanilla Plus Male Facegen Overhaul is designed with compatibility in mind.
Basic principles
The purpose of this mod is to be a cross between tweaking, redesigning and beautifying Skyrim's important male NPCs, subject to the following constraints:
The NPC's vanilla faces should be used as a base, with minimal changes necessary so that they maintain a distinct look. No male models or hairspray. Some changes will be subtle and unnoticeable. If I like their vanilla designs, some I won't touch at all.
Use only vanilla parts or custom parts that are almost indistinguishable from vanilla.
If it's a redesign, it should fit their role. Soldiers may pick up military paint or scars, normal humans will almost certainly remove the dirt, etc. Classic young characters are supposed to look young, and if old-fashioned characters don't look old, they'll look older.

Sorex is supposed to be much younger than his father.
Occasionally there are fun/free redesigns, like The Courier based on voice actor Jason Marsden

Tools/dependencies used:
Low poly version has no dependencies. I used a custom Racemenu header mesh, but all other parts are 100% vanilla.
High poly head (optional version). If you want a high poly version, make sure you have a high poly head installed.
Affected NPCs:
More NPCs will be added in future versions. Right now there's just a proof of concept and a few Riverwood NPCs. Feel free to make suggestions!

Install:
- Simply install using the Mod Manager of your choice.
compatibility:
Like any NPC appearance mod, this mod will conflict with any mod that changes NPC records, such as Special Edition Followers, as they tend to retain the original facegen values for any part of the NPC record that is unchanged. Black-faced bug! They will need to be patched. If you guys use the special edition followers, I can certainly post a patch for that, since it's my favorite follower mod!
If you have another mod that changes the appearance of the same NPC and want to use it (or vice versa), make sure:
This mod's facegen files will overwrite other mods.
The plugin for this mod is loaded later.
Should be compatible with any custom skin/eye/hair texture mods. Should be compatible with everything else, and any cosmetic mods that don't come into contact with these NPCs should be compatible with it.
Suggested mods:
Custom eye texture mod
Skysight skin
Excellent hair

Rationale
This mod's purpose is an intersection between tweaking, redesign and beautification of important male NPCs of Skyrim with the following constraints:
Should start with the NPC's vanilla face as base and make minimal neccessary changes so they remain distinct. No male models or hairspray. Some changes will be very subtle and unnoticeable. Some I will not touch at all, if I like their vanilla designs.
To only use vanilla parts, or custom parts nearly indistinguishable from vanilla.
If it's a redesign, should fit who they are as a character. Soldiers may get war paints or scars, normal people will almost certainly have their dirt removed, etc. Canonically young characters should look young, old characters, if they don't look old, will be made to look older.
Sorex should look significantly younger than his father.
There is the occasional fun/gratuitous redesign e.g. the Courier based on his voice actor, Jason Marsden

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
