Configurable spelling learning and discovery game. Compatible with every spell. This is a port of "Spell Learning and Discovery" by auie4545 from Skyrim Edition. I don't own this mod. I just ported, tested and uploaded.
I ported this mod because I love mods that add a sense of immersion to Skyrim. Furthermore, the author allows anyone to port and publish it since he does not have the opportunity to run SSE. I've given the same version number (version 1.7 when I first ported it) as the original mod to avoid confusion and any inconsistencies.
what's new
Version 1.7.2
Performance improvements
Spelling list management rewritten from the ground up
Spell count limit removed (previously 128)
Added better spell list management. You can view and manage all spells in your learning list. Navigating through the page, changing the selected spell, or moving a spell will also not force a page refresh. This means faster and easier management using your keyboard or mouse.
Added insta-learn command
Enable/disable "Delete Spellbook" and "Add Spelling Notes" notification configuration
Old obsolete code cleanup
New images added to mods page for 1.7.2
Upgrade to version 1.7.2
Please make sure to save manually before updating this mod
It automatically upgrades the mod when you start a new game or load an existing save. You should see a notification like "[Spell Learning] Installed version 1.7.2"
Check your spelllist from the mods configuration menu to make sure everything is there and working properly
I tested the mod with both a new game and an existing save. There are currently no known bugs or warnings. If you encounter a bug, please post in detail.
Have fun

When trying to fix Skyrim's economy with Cruel Merchant, spells may become too expensive. But buying is the only option.
after this mod
Players are prohibited from learning from spell books. "Spell Learning Notes" will be added to the player's inventory when purchasing the book from the merchant or otherwise obtaining any spell book. (configurable)
The corresponding spell is added to his/her to-do list and he/she studies it every night before going to bed. (No in-game representation, just pretending or using the "simple action" mod)
After each rest (once per day) the dice are checked to see if new spells have been learned from the book. (Configurable difficulty)
Learning through practice: The more times a player casts a spell, the greater his/her chance of successfully learning a new spell
Wizards Are Researchers: There is also a chance to discover a spell yourself without having access to the book for it. (Configurable difficulty, can be set to 0% chance)
Role-playing a mage also increases the opportunity for spell learning. (configurable)
**By stocking up on your personal library of "Spelling Study Notes" (stackable in inventory)
**Discuss "Magic Theory" with the Mage NPC
** Live in inspiring places (College of Winterhold, temples, your own study)
**Consumption of mind-enhancing mixtures with minor or dangerous side effects
**Learn from the daedra elves through midnight rituals
More higher-end spellbooks can be found on the corpses of rival casters, symbolizing their own ongoing study of the arcane arts.
This enables greater participation in mage role-playing (for all flavors), inspires sleep, and enables self-reliance (advancing your …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
