The Zedit patch, in addition to proficiency, applies acceleration and penalties to actions based on the type of armored NPC + the amount of armor pierced.

describe

I'm also a big fan of tabletop RPGs and CRPGs. One mechanic I really like in these games is that the more armor you have, the more impact it has on your running, throwing, attacking, etc. actions. While I love Skyrim, being a traditional RPG is nowhere to be found and makes me miss those mechanics. In Skyrim, I had to endure watching legolas-me, heavily armored archers overweight, and run away like American bolts. Level 1 quick-cast spells like War Mage! This should not be possible and thanks to zedit we can try to solve the problem in a way that is compatible with all load orders.

So, what does this do?

This applies a speed penalty to the actions of all NPCs (playable races excluding ghosts), limiting how quickly they can perform combat-related actions.

Debuff

Light/heavy armor reduces movement speed by (4/6)% per piece, with a maximum speed of 16/24%.

Light/heavy armor increases spell cost per piece of equipment by (8/12)%, up to a maximum of 32/48%.

Light/heavy armor reduces attack speed by (3/5)% per piece, with a maximum speed increase of 12/18%

Light/heavy armor will increase the reload time of bows and crossbows by (8/12)% per piece, up to a maximum increase of 32/48%

In addition to this, the following buffs have been added to make encounters more diverse:

Gain

Light Armor skill level 20/40/60/80 provides +1.5/3/4.5/6.0% permanent movement speed.

Gain +3/6/9/12% permanent movement speed at Heavy Armor skill level 20/40/60/80.

+4/8/12/16% draw/eject speed for Marksman skill level 20/40/60/80

Two-handed weapons obtained when the two-handed skill level is 20/40/60/80, attack speed +5/10/15/20%.

compatibility

Generally this should be compatible with all mods since it's a hotfix. In general, if a mod uses raw values for attack speed buffs (i.e. does not derive values based on an attack speed frame), using attack speed buffs will be incompatible.

I used the following mods when testing and highly recommend using them in conjunction with this:

FAQ

1). Can I disable some mechanisms?

yes. The fastest way is to go into the patcher (index.js) and remove the privileges that are not required for distribution.

2). Will this affect monsters?

Not currently, but monster actors could easily get support.

3.) Some numbers are too small/large. Can you adjust it?

certainly. Post your thoughts in the forum

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
