About this mod Machine translation
Create any visible painting and place it wherever you like.
Overview
This mod is inspired by the game Eastshade, where you take on the role of an artist who can paint any landscape. You can create paintings using anything you see in Skyrim, and then place these paintings wherever you like. Maybe you want to paint the majesty of Eldergleam or create a portrait of your favorite partner and hang it in your home, the choice is up to you as you can paint however you like. You might even want to take on the role of a painter roaming Skyrim, painting the various landscapes you encounter, rather than fighting enemies in dark dungeons like everyone else.
usage
After installing this module, you will have a new "Paint" function that can be used to create paintings. To use this feature, you need to have a canvas in your inventory. A piece of firewood and a piece of leather can be used to create a canvas on the tanning rack. For those who don't care about immersion, the requirement to have a canvas in the inventory can be disabled in MCM. When you use the Paint feature, a new painting will appear in front of you and you can use it where you don't like it or destroy it. You can then take it with you and place it in another location for display. If UIExtensions are installed, you can also rename paintings.
Known limitations
When using this mod, please keep the following points in mind:
In order to actually create paintings, you need to run Skyrim in windowed mode. You can configure borderless full-screen window mode in the Skyrim Special Edition launcher. It's a bit difficult to capture the screen when DirectX has a full screen lock feature, and I'm not sure I'll be able to figure out how to make it work.
If you play with multiple characters at the same time, and with multiple characters, the painting will be overwritten. Trying to solve this problem is a bit complicated, as all the solutions I can think of will end up taking up a lot of disk space, which will make cleanup difficult. If I get enough requests I might see a way to implement making this mod work across multiple characters, but for now make sure only one of your characters is a painter so you don't accidentally break another painter's painting.
This mod is for people with a 16:9 aspect ratio. If you play Skyrim in 21:9 or 4:3, the paintings may be squashed/stretched. I might want to figure out how to crop the image or something if eventually a lot of people who aren't in the 16:9 aspect ratio want to use this mod.
Currently, textures for paintings are stored in an uncompressed format. This shouldn't be a problem if your player only has a handful of paintings at home, but if you have a low-end computer and are trying to turn Dragononsreach into a large art gallery, it might cause you trouble. I will look into adding an option to eventually store the painting as a compressed texture.
Up to 128 paintings can be created. If you want to draw something new in the current game, you must destroy the existing painting. Hopefully no one ends up actually hitting that limit, but if I get enough requests I might see that limit increased.

Apepi's Art Assets for the frame mesh work really well as it's close to a 16:9 ratio and uses vanilla textures to blend in perfectly with the game.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
