About this mod Machine translation
The easy and performance-friendly way to play Skyrim at 60+ FPS.
Oldrim version
[Require]:
Make sure you have the latest version of SKSE64 installed and running correctly.
[How this works]:
Skyrim's physics engine (HAVOK) is designed to run at 60 fps.
That's why it usually updates every ~16.7ms (1000ms/60fps).
If your game is running at a higher frame rate, you may experience some bugs (water splashing, water flashing, animals flying, objects moving on their own, etc.).
You can work around this by setting the "fMaxTime" value in the ini based on the frame rate - but this approach will result in performance degradation depending on the number of Havok objects around you.
That's why I made this plugin that dynamically assigns fMaxTime values at runtime based on your current framerate.
This way you can have unlocked framerates without running into issues with HAVOK.
[FAQ]:
Q: If I play the game locked @ 60 FPS, do I need to?
A: It depends on your PC/mod setup. It can actually help if your PC can't hit a stable 60 FPS, but in most cases this isn't a problem with the physics engine.
This addon may help if you experience occasional physics glitches, but these glitches can also be caused by certain mods (e.g., Immersive Armors).
If planning to use @60 FPS or lower, make sure the HavokFix.ini setting is set to "MinFPS".
Q: Why use this plugin instead of simply changing the fMaxTime ini value?
A: For best performance, you basically want the fMaxTime value to be as high as possible (e.g. 0.0166 @ 60 FPS), yet low enough (e.g. 0.0069 @ 144 FPS) that it doesn't cause any physics or water spurts. This means you'll have to lock the framerate or work around possible performance losses. This plugin is my simple way to play at higher frame rates without any performance penalty.
[How to install]:
Simply install using your favorite Mod Manager or extract the zip file into the Skyrim game folder.
[compatibility]:
It should be compatible with most if not every mod on this site.
The only incompatibility I have is with RivaTuner Statistics Server.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
