Simple tree damage overhaul
This mod is intended to correct the poor expansion of the destruction spell in the base game, without fundamentally changing how destruction is done. It introduces level scaling for destruction spells, adds new perks to support a more rune-based or combat-based playstyle, and adds 3 new skills at level 100.

Simple destruction rework of Z3ro
I love the magic in Skyrim, and I love much of how it plays, but I'm not satisfied with the unproductive return on investment in destruction. It feels like you basically need to invest in alchemy, stagger, and have it cost at or near 0 cost in order for it to feel satisfying. This mod is intended to correct the poor expansion of the destruction spell in the base game, without fundamentally changing how destruction is done. It introduces level scaling to destruction spells and adds 3 new skills at level 100.
General destruction changes:
Double casting efficiency changed to 2.5x normal (increased from 2.2x)
Double casting cost increased to 2x normal (down from 2.8x)
Destruction tree changes:
Removed impact from trees
This is done to reduce the cheese of endlessly staggering enemies
Replaces Novice/Apprentice/Journeyed/Expert/Master perks with level 3 "Destruction Mastery", which deals 1%/2%/3% destruction damage per level and reduces destruction cost by 20%/40%/60% respectively
Adds an additional "Focused Destruction" after the Destruction Dual Forge, which increases magic regeneration by 100%/200%, 10%/25% critical strike chance and additional critical hit damage equal to 1x/1.5x destruction level (note, these bonuses require a left or right hand equipped with spells, but also apply to weapon attacks. Supported by Combat Edition!)
Replaced Enhanced Fire/Frost/Shock with Fire/Frost/Shock Mastery, increasing Fire/Frost/Shock damage by 25% and 25% resistance to Fire/Frost/Shock
Rune Master changed and now also silences forged runes.
Added additional "minefields", adding 4 more runes and making it possible to place them 10 times farther away.
Adds an additional "Fire Aspect" that increases damage done with fire spells by 50%, and causes enemies within 50 feet to lose 25% fire resistance and take 4 fire damage per second (increased with damage and fire)
Added an additional "Frost Aspect" that deals 50% more damage with frost spells, and causes enemies within 50 feet to lose 25% of their frost resistance, take 3 cold damage/second, and move 60% faster (increased damage, damage, and cold acceleration)
Adds an additional "Shock Aspect" that increases damage done by shock spells by 50% and causes enemies within 50 feet to lose an aura of 25% shock resistance, dealing 3 shock damage/second to mages and reducing melee damage by 25%
compatibility:
My mod should be compatible with all other mods. If you are changing the mod using another tree, you need to place the lower mod tree you want in the list. If you want aspect perks/auras but a different tree model, you can contact me with the mod name and I can make a patch, or you are free to make a patch for my mod to fit the other one. I'm just asking if you make a patch for it and you contact me so I can add it to the optional files.
renew:
Version 1.0.1 is now on the files page
- Fixed a bug making Destruction Dual Casting unselectable
- Removed the level requirement for first destruction mastery
You can find an optional file under the Files section that changes the rotating fire/frost/shock effect from all aspects to a simple fire/frost/shock enchantment glow. If you primarily play in first person, the optional file would definitely be recommended as it's easier to see.

Z3ro's Simple Destruction Rework

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
