4438/5000Playing as a mage can be frustrating
I love playing Skyrim as a mage character. This is a fantasy world with some magical magical powers.
But being a mage can also be frustrating.
I am an Archmage there, I have a costume and a mage allowance. I know a bunch of battle spells. I'm ready for everything. right?
So I left college and was crawling towards the snowy ruins when all of a sudden I heard the terrifying cry of an ice troll. The troll was hungry and actively trying to distance himself from me, but I was circling him and casting spells. I'm using fire, I'm throwing thunderbolts, I'm throwing fireballs. Give him everything I have.
besides.... I have nowhere to go.
The troll barely noticed I was there.
After a minute of throwing out every spell in the book, I gave up. It's time to draw my one-handed sword. Thump, thump, thump...the troll is dead.
Frustrating.
Here's another scenario:
I was on my way, back to Whiterun, when I was spooked by some thieves. I know this is bandit territory, so thank the gods I just dropped the mage armor. I threw a few spells and watched them hesitate, trying to decide if I was worth the risk... and then it happened: POOF, my mage armor was depleted and my magic hadn't returned. They were in for the opening act, Bam Bam, and after a night out with Drunken Huntsman, I was lighting up like Sofia.
real?
I'm a mage, I can bring fire down from the sky, I can summon dadra, I can drink souls and piss. But how many gangsters with swords? Fuhgeddaboudit!
That's why I (the first one) created this mod, to make Mage strong enough to compete with the Sword and Bow class and a little more
Have fun.
May conflict with other Perk MODs
Just a warning, it modifies the standard "destroy and restore perk" tree. This is how you increase your spell power. Other mods that change those perk trees may conflict. My mod is for people who like to play with the standard perks but think mages are underpowered and want a more balanced magic versus sword and bow role.
What's included
This is a simple mod. It contains only minor Perk modifications, six new spells, and minor tweaks to vanilla spells
and magic items.
If you're looking for a mod with dozens of new spells, there are a lot of new spells around and this one will work fine for anyone
Not to be confused with destroying and restoring revitalizing trees.
After installing this mod you will be able to:
Upgrade your spell power by investing more points in Perks to deal more damage with destruction spells.
Protect yourself with new, cheaper wards and heal yourself as you use them.
Use mage armor with a lower spell cost and longer duration.
Restore your health faster with better "restoration" spell upgrades. Includes an interesting new spell called Protective Area.
Carry the "Gear Bag" spell with you to bring more gear (and spell books!) with you.
Get out of trouble with the handy new "Bend Time" spell.
Use new elemental beam spells that increase in power over time. Requires 10 privilege upgrades to maximize.
Take advantage of Academy of Winterhold quest items like Magnus' Staff, which now increases strength when you invest in Shock
allowance.
Finally, as the Archmage, you will gain an assistant who lives outside of your university dormitory. She is a merchant, a follower,
and can sell you new spells. I call them "spell studies" to add to the role play. In the future, I may look to her for help or improve her usefulness as an assistant. You can find her in the Archmage Quarter or in the wandering University.
This is the first version of my first mod. I'm sure it needs more work, but give it a try and let me know what you think.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
