This is an SSE port of Anubis22's mod Simply Balanced, the original version of which can be found here
Special thanks to Anubis22 for allowing me to create this port!
The following description is copied from the oldrim mod page. You can find the correct requirements in the drop-down menu above.
Why simple balance is needed
While other balance tools exist, they generally fall into one of two categories: either they are very broad and seemingly every variable in the game, lack focus, feel overloaded, and create compatibility issues. Or they are so small and undefinable that you need several of them to achieve your goals, assuming such a constellation even exists. In my opinion, there is a middle ground missing, which is a comprehensive but streamlined tool with clear responsibilities.
Simply Balanced is my attempt to fill this niche. It comes with a well-structured MCM menu that focuses on combat and skills, is as compatible as possible, and offers some exclusive features. Additionally, it pairs well with my other mod, True Armor, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in immersive gaming and realistic, in-depth combat.

how does this work
Why Simply Balanced is so compatible and safe
This mod is nothing more than perks that can be added and removed from the player on the fly. This is great because perks are nearly impossible to bug and stack naturally with other perks, spells, game settings, you name it. The only effect of not using perks is to override the game difficulty (novice, apprentice, adept, ...), it does not stack with other mods, but does not cause conflicts either. When multiple mods change these values, only the last change is applied.
Nonetheless, reliance on subsidies does have some limitations. Most notably, the changes can only be applied to player characters. This means that changes to Simply Balanced will only affect the player's combat effectiveness, not the player's combat effectiveness, player skills, not NPCs, etc.
Weapon balance:
This is a unique feature of Simply Balanced. It reduces the damage difference between high-level and low-level weapons, thereby increasing the range of viable weapons. This makes weak enemies feel stiffer and more realistic. If something sticking out of you is made of steel instead of glass, why is it hurt?
The balanced weapon damage is calculated as follows: weapon damage * retained damage + (1 - retained damage) * balanced target
This just shifts it to the target value.
It should be noted that this method has some disadvantages: it can also reduce the impact of backfire and make the extra power attack multiplier less effective. Due to the perk system, these are strict limitations. Of course like everything else, as long as it's not broken when tested, you can always disable it again completely safely and everything will be as before.
Dark detection:
Another unique feature of Simply Balance. Darkness detection is simply a multiplier of enemy detection range, which expands based on the light around you. I created these settings primarily to use the darker night mode, as enemies will often spot you from ridiculous distances even though it appears to be black. Not only do I want to make general sneaking easier …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
