About this mod Machine translation
18 versions of 11 authentic basic Japanese weapons from the Edo period. Plus the old daedric artifacts Goldbrand and Eltonbrand.
what it can do
It adds several Edo period Japanese... Well.. I mean, Akaviri weapons, because there can never be enough katana in the game ;)
Weight, speed, and damage are all based on the existing Akaviri katana in the game, as well as my own extrapolation of other weapons. Most weapons are quite fast, especially the two-handed katana and ninja, which provide a completely different two-handed experience than normal game weapons. If it's quiet enough for a ninja, it's quiet enough for me.
All weapons except Naginata have custom paint scabbards.
All weapons required steel and firewood to make, and those wrapped around the hilts also needed linen wrapping. So you may need to search some graves for linens if you want to craft them.
These weapons are: Katana, Wickizashi, zanbato (large two-handed sword used against cavalry), nagamaki, naginata, Kikuchi Yari, two types of tanto and two types of ninja. They are described in more detail in another section at the end of this readme.
Extra Weapons: Goldbrand from Morrowind and Skyrim, Eltonbrand from Morrowind, and the Zanpakzu Paddle from Netflix's latest version of Bleach.
Reprocessing and modulation
As with most of my mods, it's designed for easy reworking, so the textures are separated, as well as mapped, so you can swap in some other materials. This might not be easy to do with the blade unless you're willing to lose the harmon, though even there if you want to end up with a simpler metal blade.
However, you can safely replace similar textures included in the mod with others. For example, if you wanted to replace the yellow handle with a black accessory, you would just use NinjatoTsuba.dds. Similarly, you could replace the RoundTsuba.dds with the NinjatoTsuba.dds to remove the yellow star on the guard (although the star-shaped indentation will still be there). Similarly, you can also copy it to Habaki.dds and get a steel knife sleeve like a ninja, instead of a yellow one.
The mesh pieces are also separate, a bit like in Nightmare 2, so if you're not trying to copy the nodes in NifSkope, you can mix and match. Katana with a square guard? On my Roman spear shaft? A ninja blade on the hilt of an Epix dagger? You can do it. Really, this is just a copy and paste exercise.
how to get it
In addition to Goldbrand and Elton Brand, there is a chest containing every weapon and variant in the Celestial Temple near the Wall of Arduin. Seems like the most logical place to find ancient Akaveri weapons. The chest is locked, but it's a novice-level lock, so no skill is required to open it. Still, bring a lock or two.
Alternatively, you can make them by hand. As mentioned earlier, you may need to search a tomb for linen packages, though. (No one said they would make a fuss out of a molehill.)
Goldbrand can only be obtained from Pastor Boethiah who participated in the Markarth Haunted Mansion adventure, either by stealing from him or by looting the body at the end. The champions who secretly assassinated Botia stole their weapons, which is what Botia wanted. (If you have missed this opportunity, enter "Help goldbrand" without quotes into the console and enter "player.addtem xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx1" where xxxxxxx is the item id shown by the previous command).
The Elton Brand can only be obtained by taking the Maddening Smit Deal and upgrading the Gold Brand while forging it. Look under the "Daedric" category. (Or via the console above.)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
