Serana improvements and fixes (SIF)
This mod fixes some of Serana's bugs, including the infamous "stuck in stealth mode" bug. Not only that, but due to the lack of compatibility with most follower frameworks, this mod copies some of their best features and tweaks them specifically for Serana. Can be used during the Dawnguard questline and should be compatible with most follower mods.
About this mod Machine translation
This mod fixes some of Serana's bugs, including the infamous "stuck in stealth mode" bug. Not only that, but due to the lack of compatibility with most follower frameworks, this mod copies some of their best features and tweaks them specifically for Serana. Can be used during the Dawnguard questline and should be compatible with most follower mods.
I started playing Skyrim about 4 years ago. I've had countless hours of play since then, and although I've never managed to beat the game, on each playthrough I've always been drawn to Dawnguard's expansion and spent a lot of time with it. I know not everyone likes Serana (due to "personality" or bugs), but to me, she's hands down one of the best vanilla fans around. However, as anyone who has used Serana as a follower can immediately attest, she has a number of frustrating bugs, and most follower management mods are not fully compatible with her. All of them recommend adding Serana to their framework only after the Dawnguard task line is completed, which means you will have to give up some of your best features for a while, and even then they don't always integrate well with Serana. .
After starting my last walkthrough, I finally got tired of the situation and decided to take matters into my own hands. In this way, this mod was born. With it, I tried to fix some encountered bugs, copy some functionality from the follower management mod but completely tailor it to Serana, and tweak some settings and scripts to improve Serana in general - while making sure not to interrupt any missions, and trying to avoid conflicts with other major follower mods. Regardless, this mod will be most useful for those who use Serana exclusively as a follower without a follower management system.

1.What does this mod do?
[repair]
Make sure Serana doesn't put the hood on if it's cured (in my experience, Serana still puts it on even after being cured);
Uninstalling the shield at night (now, between 19:00 PM and 05:00 AM, Serana removes the shield outdoors);
The hood can be equipped even when not wearing the default vampire gear:
In the original game, the hood was never equipped if the player dressed her in any other clothing. I imagine that for some players the original would be preferred, as the hood doesn't always work well with all armor. However, if there's a big demand, I can always upload a version without this "fix".
Unfreeze Serana from crouch:
Apparently this is a common mistake with "special" minions like Serana and Cicero, who risk being locked in a crouched position after a fight. The only solution for me was to disable and re-enable Serana via console commands, which became very tiring and annoying after a while. While I haven't fixed the underlying issue yet, I finally did it so that the game can detect when this happens and automatically disable/enable her via script.
[feature]
Change the following distance via dialogue options:
While mods like AFT and UFO can tweak it, I decided to scrap it due to incompatibility with Serana, but I had to implement my own system. Players can now choose between 3 following distances, all set via the dialog box ("Off", "Normal" (default) and "Far").
Auto-relax behavior in cells labeled 'Home':
As long as the player is in a cell with the Home tag, her "Relax" behavior pack will activate. The downside to this approach is that Serana will be at home in any house, not just those owned by the player. The bonus is that it maintains full compatibility with houses that add mods.
Known bugs: 1. Sometimes the AI package fails to start and Serana just stands there. However, this rarely happens, and exiting the unit and entering again usually solves the problem; 2. Serana, while not a bug, may eat while relaxing, which I imagine may not be that immersive or in any way friendly to it (will be fixed soon).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
