Secret of the Silver Blade Special Edition port 1.27. Added 26 silver-plated elegant weapons
Adds 26 silver-plated elegant weapons to a more civilized era. Some are historical, some are not. They range from an accurate replica of a historical Oakeshott type Danish blade, to a Substitute blade from the Blade movie and a fantasy elf blade. Just pick your poison and ignore the blades that don't fit your intellectual perspective.
Their blades are actually made of ebony and therefore deal high damage, but the maximum damage against supernatural creatures is silver-plated.
They can be crafted from ebony, silver, and leather. All of this can be enhanced with a silver bar, because if you use a whetstone on these blades, that's the silver plate you'll need to replace later. That is, it won't be cheap or easy to make, but it will give you something to work with.
Most have custom sheaths that fit the blade. (The exception is the Great Dane, which historically was not carried in a scabbard, falcon and blade, they had enough blade shape to not match the scabbard).
All one-handers except the Daywalker Blade have a slightly longer handle to accommodate the game's animated movement of the hand's position on the hilt considerably between first-person and third-person. Ultimately I was making game weapons rather than museum pieces, so they had to fit into game animations.
- Cup-handled rapier with silver-plated blade. It has a blade about 37 inches long, measuring from the tip to where it meets the cup, about 1.1 inches wide, and has a diamond section for hardness. The blade is one of the earlier models, wider and designed for both cutting and thrusting. I had to do this because all the animations in the game are for cuts, not the main punches.
In terms of balance, it does less damage per hit than the Ebony Claymore, but is faster so it still gets good DPS, roughly equivalent to a Daemon Dagger. Plus, of course, it has the silver effect. That said, it's a good endgame weapon, but don't overdo it.
As of 1.05, because it has the stats of a dagger, it also counts as a Dark Arrow dagger, meaning it gets a 15x sneak attack multiplier. (But it still has a sword.)
- A jagged dagger, in this case a dagger with a very wide cross. That is, it doesn't really do anything extra and can be used as a regular dagger. It has a blade about 11 inches long and about 1.1 inches wide.
For stats, it's almost exactly the same as a Daze Dagger, except of course it has the silver effect on it.
- A broad sword loosely based on the Oakshot Type XVIIIa sword. This fancy castor wine isn't particularly historic to that sort of person, though. "Broad sword" can be misleading, as it is actually a slender sword, about 1-3/4 inches wide and about 34-1/2 inches long, from tip to hilt. Like the others, this is a very hard diamond-section blade with a nasty spike, although this one also has a sharper edge for cutting.
Statistically, it's on par with a Guardian Sword, plus the Silver Blade's effect on undead and werewolves.
- Great Dane: A two-handed Oakeshott type XVIIie sword. The blade is approximately 41-1/4 inches long and 1-3/4 inches at its widest, and makes full use of the taper and distal taper, making it actually a light and flexible sword. It is primarily a stabbing sword, like all diamond blades, but its cutting abilities should not be underestimated. It has a narrower castor next to the hilt so you can grab the blade and use the sword as a short spear, and a short drum that's barely longer than the castor.
XVIIIe is almost (but not quite) used in Denmark, hence the name I gave it. Sorry I just couldn't help it. Regardless, this seems like a good choice for Skyrim since it's a true Nordic mod.
Statistically, it's on par with a two-handed sword, plus the silver blade effect against undead and werewolves.
- "Sword of the Day": It's exactly what it sounds like. It’s the sword from the Blade movie. It has a blade just over 26 inches long and a handle just over …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
