Master the art of smithing and learn how to forge a vast array of armor and weapons! As you wander around Skyrim, you'll find plenty of armor. As a true blacksmith, you'll be able to replicate these pieces, and if you put enough effort into your art, you'll even learn how to surpass the original designs!

describe:

Smith Art is designed to give you more choices about the gear you use in the game.

To this end, most faction weapons and armor are craftable, but that's not all: with the exception of the Academy of Winterhold (obviously),

You'll be able to craft new faction gear suitable for the late game. This does not overload the forging menu.

Remember, this mod is designed to reward your hard work, not punish it with another piece of hard work that punishes you.

Please note that this mod is not completely finished yet, there is more to come. Don't hesitate to leave comments and/or suggestions.

Why do you want this mod?

It's been a long time since I started Skyrim. My first game was a quest to complete all the faction missions and get all the achievements, which was a lot of fun.

However, for the rest of the walkthrough, I rarely completed these faction missions because I knew that the "rewards" the game could give me in most cases were just useless. Then I turned to mods, but nothing really clicked for me in that regard. So I thought of making my own mod.

You'll be able to craft weapons and armor for the faction you join. With enough investment in both your faction and your blacksmithing skills, you can improve the way you forge certain weapons and armor. First, I'd like to provide a full detailed explanation, but let you discover it on your own. I only give you a plasticizer:

After joining the Dark Brotherhood, you will be able to craft Shroud armor (if you have the appropriate perks) and robes.

Then, after completing certain quests, you will be able to craft Ancient Shroud armor instead of Shroud armor.

(Please note this will not replace already crafted armor, only the recipe)

This is to give each player a complete choice of what to wear and what to use in the late game. Now you will be able to go all out on assassins, blade members, thieves,... ...I didn't change any of the enchanted items, I just copied them. Unenchanted items have been changed though.

If you're using grazman's Better Harvest, I've placed my mods below in load order to get the shards from the draugrs since we all modified their placement lists.

Description:

The Art of Smithing aims to give you more choice regarding the gear you'll use through your game.

To do so, most faction weapons and armors are made craftable, but that's not all: with the exception of the College of Winterhold (obviously),

you'll be able to forge new versions of your factions gear, suited for lategame. This without overloading the smithing menu.

Keep in mind this mod is about rewarding your hard work, not punishing it with another hard work to smith your stuff.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
