SCOTOPIA - Night Eyes
This mod adds a small dungeon that contains the spell Scopelian Tome - a spell that allows the player to see better in the dark.
Many other copycats have added spells in one way or another, but this was an exercise for me to create a kit and add spells the way I wanted. My goal is to make this mod very user-friendly, immersive, and compatible. I'm thinking about making some simpler, friendlier spelling mods, so I might upload more in the future if that's something you guys want me to know about! If you have any suggestions on how to improve Scotopia, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
spell
Scotopia simply converts the Khajiit Night Eye racial ability into spell form, with a duration of 5 minutes. Therefore, the spell has the same graphical effect as the vanilla version - blurred edges and all. Depending on your graphics settings and any graphics mods you have installed, effects and how spells look will change. Casting this spell while the effect is still active will turn off night vision.
This spell is worth 200 gold, so it might be worth selling even if you're not a mage.
Scotopia is an apprentice-level illusion spell that is affected by the associated illusion perk.
where to find spell books
This spell is found in a chest at the end of a small low-level dungeon called Dark Descent north of Helgen at coordinates (4, -17). I've uploaded an image of its location, with the dark drop hovering in red. The dungeon is located to the east of the starting cave.
compatibility
I designed this mod for compatibility. No changes to the level list, only 1 vanilla cell. I added the entrance to Dark Descent in the Tamriel world space of (4,-17), so Scotopia will not be compatible with any other mods that alter this unit. Other than that, Scotopia should be compatible with everything.
If you find any incompatibilities let me know and I'll try to fix or mitigate them, or at least post them here.
Scotopia has been cleaned using SSEEdit.

This mod adds a small dungeon which contains the tome for the spell Scotopia - a spell that allows the player to see better in the dark.

Scotopia is simply a converted form of the Khajiit night eye racial ability into spell form, with a duration of 5 minutes. Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
