Mihail’s 2019 Halloween Gifts:

From Ivarstead follow the dirt track north to the river and cross just before the falls. Another dirt road runs through the wooded foothills on the east side of the Throat of the World on the other side. A short distance down the road, iron gates lie in the dirt where an Imperial Toll Gate once stood. (For fast travel, just type "COC POIFALLFOREST25" on the console) Take the story of Samaria, who died in a well outside a tool kiosk.

Samaria was a young girl who worked in this place as a servant to a captain named Taudius, who took a special liking to her. In fact, he fell madly in love with her and told her that he was leaving his wife to be with her. However, Samaritan was not part of the plan, which resulted in her apparent murder at the hands of the savage captain.

One of Samaria's main duties is to look after ten gold coins for Taudius while he travels to the White House. The captain secretly decided to hide one of them, and when he returned, he asked for 10 coins back. She started counting them one by one, and when she missed the last one, she started crying and panicking. He told Samaria that if she did not agree to have sex with him, he would blame her for stealing the plate, which would result in her being tortured or executed.

In one version of the story, Samaria took her own life and threw herself down the toolbox well, thinking she was in a no-win situation and had no choice. In another version, Taudius threw her down a well after she refused to be with him.

Of course, the story doesn't stop there. Samaria is said to have crawled out of the well and appeared in Thaddeus every night. Taudius was apparently driven mad by the constant calls of vengeful ghosts in the night. She could often be heard counting plates in the broken outpost...and slamming whenever she realized, as usual, that the tenth plate was still missing.

She's clearly a bit of a badass, and in addition to her nine gold coins, she also owns a wedding ring, which may mean she may have given her heart to another man while on her royal duties. .

If you wear that ring on your hand, you will have the power to summon her to aid you in battle once per day, but only when used. The pain, sadness, and frustration she feels is so great that her simple touch affects your concentration and intelligence for a few seconds, causing your ability to use spells to temporarily decrease for a short period of time, making her extremely useful against magic-user enemies.
