RUSTIC AZURA'S STAR - Special Edition is a high-resolution recreation of the ancient artifact Azura's Star. Available in 4K and 2K resolutions.
RUSTIC AZURA'S STAR - Special Edition is a high-resolution recreation of the ancient artifact Azura's Star. There are three versions of artifacts in the game. The Broken Star that you discover at the beginning of the mission, and the two versions available at the completion of the mission: the Infinite Soul Stone version, or the "Black Star" of the Infinite Black Soul Stone.
Since Azura's Star is essentially a unique type of soul gem, I thought it would make sense to give it a rustic re-texture to match the soul gem textures I made for the RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod. Unfortunately, since half of the artifact is made up of metal flakes, adding transparency and glow effects isn't really feasible. Someone has to create a new grid to allow such additions. So this is just a straight texture replacer and doesn't contain any meshes. Anyway, the appearance of the soulgem crystals matches the grand soulgem and black soulgem from my RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod, so if you use both mods, at least you'll have consistency.
While including this retexture in the RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod is doable in a sense, Azura's Star is a unique color-changing artifact, and there will always be people using other soulgem alternatives who still want a high-resolution retexture of Azura's Star. So I decided to keep the mods separate for now.
4K and 2K texture options are available, but keep in mind that these textures are rectangular rather than square, so they are only half the file size of normal 4K or 2K textures. So a 4K texture is 4K long and only 2K wide. A 2K texture has dimensions of 2K x 1K. For SSE, save normal maps in BC7 compression to avoid artifacts.
I hope people enjoy my latest addition to Skyrim's RUSTIC textures. May Azura smile upon you.
cheers,
Gamwich

RUSTIC AZURA'S STAR - Special Edition is a hi-res retexture of the daedric artifact, Azura's Star. There are three versions of the artifact in game. The broken star that you find at the beginning of the quest, and the two versions available at the completion of the quest: The unlimited grand soulgem version, or the "Black Star" which is an unlimited black soulgem.
Since Azura's Star is essentially a unique type of soulgem, I figured it would make sense to do a rustic retexture of it in keeping with the soulgem textures I made for my RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod. Unfortunately, adding the transparency and glowing effect is not really doable due to the fact that half of the artifact is made up of metal pieces. Someone would have to create a new mesh to allow for those kinds of additions. Therefore, this is just a straight texture replacer, and doesn't contain any meshes. Regardless, the appearance of the soulgem crystals match the grand soulgem and black soulgem of my RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod, so you at least will have consistency if you use both mods.
While it might've made some sense to include this retexture with the RUSTIC SOULGEMS mod, Azura's Star is a unique daedric artifact, and there will always be people who are using other soulgem replacers but still want a hi-res retexture of Azura's Star. I therefore decided to make the mod separate for now.
4K and 2K texture options are available, but keep in mind that these textures are rectangular rather than square, so they are only half the file size of a normal 4K or 2K texture. Therefore, the 4K textures are 4K in length, but only 2K in width. The 2K textures are 2K x 1K in dimension. For SSE, the normal map is saved in BC7 compression to avoid artifacts.
I hope people enjoy this latest addition to my RUSTIC retextures for Skyrim. May Azura smile upon ye.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
