I love the Royal Armories. I like the concept, I like the models, but you know what I don't like? Unique items on base npcs with gold values so high I need to save the dregs after overusing pickpocket potions and enchantments. (exaggerate)
Additionally, simply upgrading can render an item unusable. (Looking at you Dawnguard)
So I made a mod that fixed it.
How does it work?
I basically cut in half your gold value and enchantment costs and fees that you can't get in quest lines or what have you. Now you have a chance to pickpocket them without any enhanced skills and perks. good luck!
*don’t worry. You'll still get roughly the same number of clicks, but you'll need to reload more frequently.
Pendulum placed in the destroyed Warning Hall. If you are using the mod that keeps Carcette alive: Open this mod in xedit and remove the Worldspace category.
Shalidor's dagger was taken from Savos Aren and a display case for the dagger was placed in the Archmage's quarters. The Master locks and unlocks Arch-Mage's quarters key.
For ICoW: It's located in a sliding stone wall niche in the Archmage's Quarters. Locking is the same as above.
repair
Silvertongue no longer has unlimited recharge.
Adjusted the loading screen so that (hopefully) you can see the weapons now. Testing these is very tricky and time-consuming. If any of them still mess up, please let me know. If you can, try to take a screenshot.
Tempering recipes for Cicero's weapons no longer require the Harbinger's Ax display cabinet key. Nor any kind of vegetable. Just dragon position.
There are two versions available. One for use with Grantyboy050's Immersive College of Winterhold. Another for someone else.
If anyone wants to backport this to LE, please feel free. Just give me a heads up and give credit where it's due.
integral
PrivateEye produces the Royal Armory and has open access.
JCBQ helped me figure out how enchantments affect gold value.
Grantyboy050 is Immersive College of Winterhold.

I love Royal Armory. I love the concept, I love the models, but you know what I don't love? Unique items on essential npcs with gold values so high I need to save scum after overdosing on pickpocket potions and enchantments. (Hyperbole)
Also items becoming unavailable simply by leveling up. (Lookin' at you Dawnguard)
So I made a mod that fixes that.
How does it work?
I essentially cut the gold values and enchantment costs and charges in half on weapons* that you don't obtain as a matter of course in a questline or what have you. Now you have some chance of pickpocketing them without any enhancements at max skill and perks. Good luck!
*Don't worry. You still get roughly the same number of hits out of it but you need to recharge it more often.

Took Shalidor's Dagger off of Savos Aren and placed in it the dagger display case in the Archmage's Quarters. Master locked and opens with the Arch-Mage's Quarters Key.
For ICoW: It's in one of the sliding stone wall alcoves in the Archmage's Quarters. Locked same as above.

The Tempering recipe for Cicero's weapon no longer needs the key to the Harbinger's Axe display case. Nor any kind of vegetable. Just dragon bits.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
