Complete overhaul of the interior of Riverwood Trader. Designed to add a new, realistic and friendly design to merchants in the rural town of Riverwood.
Personal note:
This mod comes from my Skyrim days on Xbox 360/PS4, terrible console experience with glitches/vanilla/minimal mod options and subsequently buying a new PC this year, trying 200 mods then deciding I could do this so I could do this too, then spending 40 hours working on this mod, restarting it twice and generally being a bear.
I'm keeping this mod vanilla, lore and asset friendly for future PS4 releases when/if I want/can/I'm happy/have access to it.
Many thanks to Sodabanana for her long-term help and advice on this project!
What exactly is this?
Riverwood Trader is basically a brand new legend-friendly, realistic and vanilla asset.
In between minor and major overhaul, basically a light overhaul... I guess?
In-depth overview:
This model is a complete remodel of the Riverwood Trader interior.
The mod changes around the entire shop on both floors, adds a loft ceiling area, adds supplements to Lucan's text during the intro mission of a given dialogue, (no speech as it would be impossible to add another sentence without it sounding extremely cheesy) The intro seems more open and conversational about how Lucan interacts with Camilla in a speech-like manner, and then Camilla looks more composed as she sits with her back to him, all without changing any of the script, which was the original intention, but there is a very stubborn script that ignores the claws in Creation The spawn position is set in Kit so it always spawns where it is, (To fix this I had to move the table back which ruined the open feel of the shop that the mod originally had but that's okay, hope you guys think it still looks good and the conversation should still look less stiff than vanilla.)
Finally, this mod also adds a reference to a bandit who stole the claws from a note in Desolate Falls Barrow in the first large room, which is filled with bandits and dead rats/bodies + added bloody rags near the bodies.
File size?
The size is small, about 60kb (zip 20kb).
I'm still working on some polishes but the file size is basically minus 100kb!
File type?
compression
Photos/videos?
I tried to add some photos that show at most a few major changes without affecting the satisfaction of seeing the new Riverwood Trader in game!
What else has been changed or added?
99% of the items come from The Riverwood Trader files and can simply be repurposed, resized, copy pasted, deleted or moved.
Initially I moved everything out of the store, then rearranged the furniture, moved them back in, etc. This mod has evolved a lot from the original intent and required a restart from scratch due to missing files, and then again when I overdid it too much.
I have no new assets.
I completely reused objects, walls, tables, bars and small items, whether I moved them or copied and pasted them.
A very small percentage of items have been added from other areas of the game, all of which are simple or should not affect gameplay, quests, or other item collection, (please let me know if you encounter any bugs, especially with the claws returning to the case at the end of the quest.)
I wrote two letters using the duplicate game notes/letters asset.
There is also a business ledger; I copied the forged ledger from the Thieves Guild; please let me know if you find any issues RE: Thieves Guild. It's a duplicate so you can't use it to cheat the Thieves Guild quest either Sorry!
I've made sure not to be 100% immersed, so if your words are broken...sorry! I try to be a perfectionist and work hard to make it look like a fully fledged Skyrim environment. If you find a bug, pretend I'm Bethesda.
You have to discover the rest for yourself.
Navigation grid
I'm really trying to keep the navmesh neat, but it might work for anyone other than the original two NPCs in the shop (I tried testing and comparing, but even on vanilla, the stairs and tab …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
