Killer (beware of spoilers)
The legendary Galus, then Academic Guildmaster of Riften's notorious Thieves' Guild, under his leadership his guild rose to prominence in the underworld while gaining wealth and influence, necessitating a house where the guild could be managed with ease. daily, while allowing him to entertain influential guests in complete privacy.
So, with the permission of the Snow-Shods (and the Septims' generosity), he built Garret above the manor, and reflecting his intellectual talents, his house was outfitted with bookshelves that could hold most, if not all, of his knowledge of Tamriel.
In order to keep his equipment in proper fighting condition, prepare weapons and armor, and create potions and poisons needed for special tasks, with the help of a trusted friend at the Academy of Winterhold, he also crafted an enchanting alchemy table to order and moved in several pieces of handcrafted equipment.
Eventually, Garroth would retreat to Garrett, stripping off his armor and relaxing in a hot bath, aided by his in-depth study of the now-extinct race and its advanced technology, himself built from dwarven pipes and contraptions. . But then the loft was also a convenient place to spend time with Karliah intimately, especially on the large bed, as they talked about the future and that he would be the one to lead the guild if he decided to retire. good.
But tragedy struck when Gallows himself became a victim of his own success, leaving the loft vacant and thus forcing Jarl to seize his property. Since then, the fortunes of the guild have gone backwards, their numbers have dwindled, their wealth has disappeared, and although many of its successors have been able to rent lofts from the Jarl, for some inexplicable reason the tenants have been doomed, meaning that the Jarl lofts have closed permanently.
The Attic is now silent, waiting for anyone to come in and hopefully change not just the Rift, but the rest of the world.
Backstory
This mod was made out of necessity - my character has yet to complete any more Riften-related quests, but needs a home before she can finally purchase Honeyside. So I created this player home to support basic crafting, add a lot of usable storage space and be able to comply with some realism mods like Frostfall, but at the same time, it's also a sandbox for me to try out design ideas in the interior design, with a focus on usability.
compatibility
This mod is highly compatible with...
Dawn of Riften & Skyrim (Well... somewhat compatible, considering DoR/DoS changed Riften's navmesh. Your follower may have trouble climbing stairs or walking out, but will still enter the house. I may try that in the next update.)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
