Fix broken (stuck) animations, often described as T-pose glitches

As usual, SKSE FREE and compatible.EVERYTHING

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Video demonstration:

If you uninstall some custom enemy mods, such as Skyrim Monster Mod, Skyrim Immersive Creatures, High-Level Enemies, you will get broken (stuck) animations, often described as T-pose (actors have no animation, human creatures usually don't have heads).

  • This is not a mesh or animation issue.
  • This is not a script issue.
  • No, you do not have to reinstall the game or update the Meshes folder.

This is purely a game engine issue.

This utility mod uses a script to reset the closest non-unique character and bring it back to life. Scripts are triggered on script changes/game load and when time has elapsed.

Technically, each character is only processed once (actors processed in the past won't receive any attention even if the cell is reloaded), so there shouldn't be unnecessary script delays.

This mod is designed as a temporary solution. "Broken" creatures should disappear after a while. You can try to uninstall the mod after 31 days.

If you "have no such problem, then there is no such thing as installation!"

How to uninstall ReAnimate?

Go into the inner cell, save the game and uninstall.

I don't want to install your mod.Can I fix this manually?

certainly.

  • You can try waiting 31 days in inner cells (no guarantee)
  • When you encounter these characters, you can also use the console to fix them manually:
  • Click on the "broken" character
  • Enter "disabled"
  • Close the console and wait for one second
  • Open the console and enter "enable"

Here's the idea behind the fix:

Please note that this mod will significantly reduce the risk of encountering broken animations, but I won't promise that it will work 100% of the time. You know, I'm not going to check every second for obvious reasons. So if you encounter "broken" actors, use the console solution (this should happen rarely).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
