starfis logo, thank you starfis!
Please respect my efforts and future efforts!
This is a new version of Perseid9's very popular Mod Realistic Needs and Diseases. Perseid9 ended support for his mod on July 3, 2014. Since then, the mod has not been updated, maintained or supported. I had high hopes that perseid9 would come back and continue his work, but now after over a year I have given up all hope of him coming back. Perseid9 made his mod public domain, so I took it upon myself to continue pushing what is probably the best and most accessible Needs Mod possible. Perseid9, if you read this and you disagree with my adoption, please let me know and I will hand over the source code, including all the work I've done on the widgets and MCM menus.
Differences from the original version
Version 2.2+ has:
- Added widget support for hunger, thirst, sleep and drunkenness, they can be static, hotkeyed or auto-fading, they also have two color changes
- All widgets are configurable in the MCM menu: position, size, transparency, on/off
- Added FISS support for simple widget preset saving/loading
- Configure automatic update intervals for widgets
- You can fill your waterkins/bottles in any well, trough and water wheel
- Travelers react wisely when buying drinks
- Hotkey functionality to customize food from other Mods...just place the food item on the floor, hover over and press the hotkey
- An MCM toggle feature that removes the annoying carrying weight penalty during hunger and sleep...if you prefer to cheat on the pain... ;)
- Added functionality to allow grilling food (meat, leeks, potatoes) on all campfires, embers and various other fire sources
- A fully functional weight system... you'll visually loose/gain weight based on your diet, which pairs well with Pumping Iron... you'll also get a weight widget that shows your figure
- Added a hotkey based "rest" feature that replaces the vanilla wait system... you will regain health and get halved quickly... just for fun I also adapted the sleep/wait
Menus allow for greater immersion
Something you won't see in this mod!
- Water from rain or snow sources...it makes you sick, ask no more...it's as unobtrusive and impractical as it can get...Tanks are an exception as you can see people often pouring water into the gutters while using them Mods are like immersive citizens...so they actually replenish the river water
- Automation of eating, drinking, sleeping... then why do you need mods? If you can't feed yourself then needing mods is probably not your cup of tea... one of the reasons I actually use it is that I have to interact with food to stay alive... automating a process like this is just bullshit
- Followers/Horse Needs... shouldn't be a trait for personal needs mods... This will be moved over to my follower mod, almost because my follower mod already has the salary trait, and because I'm stingy with things that have the follower/animal food trait... RNAD is always about personal needs and will stay that way
What are the plans for future releases?
Using latest version 2.2, no further plans. If you bring good ideas about topics, I will implement them. I will continue to support it in the future and will suppress bugs that I find or that you report. Food modding patches are almost obsolete with new food customization features. I will continue to improve compatibility in future updates.
Require:
- Skyrim Special Edition with most of the actual patches
- Unofficial SSE patch
- SKSE
- SkyUI
- (Optional) [FISS[/url] Save widget preset
suggestion:
I highly recommend the following mods for added immersion, realism, and survival content:
bathing in the sky
Frostfall
real wild animals
How to install:
Install using Manager:
- Press the Manager button on to …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
