Why you need real armor

There are different armor types and multiple armor sets in vanilla Skyrim, but they are all good for warm butter and cold butter. They are all the same, no differences, no diversity, no advantages and disadvantages. The armor system is shallow and boring. This also mirrors vanilla's combat, which is pathetic at best. While there are many combat models around, none of them adequately address the role of armor in the equation.

This is where the real armor comes in. This mod fundamentally changes the way armor works in Skyrim, to the point where it almost completely replaces the vanilla armor system. You will be hard-pressed to find any mod that offers a more immersive, realistic and in-depth experience with armor mechanics.

Armor finally feels and plays differently

Each armor type has personal and weapon or magic specific protection. Further worn armor will significantly affect your speed and regeneration.

fair

Almost all true armor effects apply to both the player and players fighting equally with him or her.

The light armor makes up for their lack of protection in speed and regeneration.

Armor affects speed and regeneration

What is your style? Whether it's the indomitable Bulwark, the magical glass cannon, or the agile assassin, True Armor lets you play it all.

biological protection

True Armor now lets you assign a creature its armor protection and a better all-around experience.

passive block mechanism

Let your shield work for you, even if you're not actively blocking.

sound effects overlay

You can tell by listening as your sword glances off their breastplate and your mace holds their skull beneath.

Dynamic health limiter

No more unrealistic and immersion-breaking sponge-destroying enemies. When passed, reduce their health to a reasonable level.

Fully customizable

Adjust hundreds of settings to achieve your vision of how the armor should work, or load a well-balanced preset and jump straight into the action.

Works on all armor, even customs

how does this work

Armor protection

Armor protection is divided into two layers, called "Deflection" and "Pierce". For each damage type, they can be set for each armor class.

Deflection is similar to a skimming hit, a small dent, a surface cut, or a scatter of magic that then passes through.

Pierce is similar to a shallow weapon penetration, significantly indenting or enchanting it, making it nearly impenetrable.

When you are attacked, your protection is calculated as follows:

The game randomly selects which area is hit, weighted according to hit priority in the MCM menu.

The game rolls over whether the attack completely deflects, pierces, or ignores the armor in that area.

This roll is weighted according to the deflection and penetration chance of the relevant armor in the MCM menu.

Depending on the result, the damage will be reduced by deflection protection, perforation protection or not at all.

Armor properties

Each piece of armor you wear has an impact on your attributes.

Depending on the hit priority in the MCM menu, the contribution may be smaller or larger depending on where you wear it.

Therefore, the chest piece may be more important than the helmet, such as protection and attributes.

passive block mechanic

Very simple: you just need to equip a shield and use it passively.

Just place it in the direction of the enemy's attack and with luck you'll be …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
