About this mod Machine translation
Don't save your skill book for later use!
This mode resets skill books so that levels are not awarded immediately, they give you a leveling speed for the corresponding skill. This means you can read them as soon as you find them and get more out of them.
Each book grants 3% bonus experience, or 6% insight from the scholar in Black Book: The Winds of Change. The vanilla game contains 5 books for each skill, and the version book cover Skyrim - The Lost Library adds a 6th book for each skill. The jackpots are shown in the table below.
Book reading | 1 book | 2 books | 3 books | 4 books | 5 books | 6 books
-------------------------------------------------- --------------------------
Normal Bonus | 3% | 6% | 9% | 13% | 16% | 19%
Scholar’s Insight | 6% | 12% | 19% | 26% | 34% | 42%
In the best case, these bonuses are roughly equivalent to what you'd get for saving all the books to the end.
Warning when installing on existing storage! You may have to discard your books and pick them up again in order to register the script.

This mod reworks skill books so that instead of granting levels instantly, they give you a permanent boost to your leveling speed in the respective skill. This means that you benefit more by reading them as soon as you find them.
Each book grants 3% bonus experience, or 6% with the Scholar's Insight buff from Black Book: The Winds of Change. The vanilla game contains 5 books for each skill, and the mod Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library adds a 6th book for each skill. The cumulative bonuses are shown in the table below.
Books read | 1 Book | 2 Books | 3 Books | 4 Books | 5 Books | 6 Books
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Normal bonus | 3% | 6% | 9% | 13% | 16% | 19%
Scholar's Insight | 6% | 12% | 19% | 26% | 34% | 42%
In the best case scenario, these bonuses are roughly equivalent to what you would gain by saving all your books until the end.
Warning when installing on existing saves! You might have to drop your books and pick them up again for the scripts to register.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
