Added dialogue conditions for custom matches. For vanilla game and selected mods. Now your unique personality can be discriminated against!

Skyrim has 10 playable races. If you can use mods, then oh well!

However, there is a problem. People in Skyrim are very kind, especially if you've ever played as a Dunmer (who just shows up in Windhelm) or as a Khajiit (every bandit wants to make a rug out of you), and even the Nords will get at least a few insults hurled by the Thalmor.

But what if your character is a member of a custom race? No. Nada. NIENTE. Nichts. nic. Suddenly, everyone is nice to you. This is perfectly fine for a while, but after a while you even start to miss the blatant racist insults. To make matters worse, some mods will actually check your matches. So what happened there? The mod doesn't work properly, it doesn't even break, that's what's happening.

That's where this mod comes in. Just like the original Race Compatibility - DetectiveToaster's dialogue changes to the original Skyrim, this is a plug-in for TMPhoenix's Race Compatibility mod. This adds extra race checks to dialogue where needed - basically, it also differentiates your unique character, and patches could address issues with modifying quests if they check for vanilla races (one example is the boss encounter Rielle from Beyond Skyrim: Bruma, who has dialogue checks for all playable races) or simply add some mock racism. Because who doesn’t like racism? …I hope you realize this is sarcastic.

Q: IT'S A PORT AND YOU'RE GONNA BANNED IF YOU ALLOW WAA WAAHA WAAAAAAAH!!!! (Okay, maybe a little more than this...)

Answer: This is not a port. I did ask DetectiveToaster for permission to port the original patch, but they have been gone since September 2017 and I have not heard back from them. Therefore, there is no porting license either. So I went ahead and remade all the patches from scratch and added a few fixes here and there. So the core plugins are not exactly the same, but they behave the same.

Q: So does this mean my XYZ race character will actually be considered XYZ race?

Answer: No. You will be considered one of the vanilla Skyrim ones - whichever one is included in the ActorProxy keyword in the custom race plugin. For example: a contest with the ActorProxyNord keyword will obviously be recognized as Nord and so on. If your race mode doesn't contain such keywords... well, you're out of luck. Although as far as I know, TMPhoenix requires RaceCompatibility for all custom races to contain this keyword.

Q: But I've been playing custom matches and never had any problems!

A: That's because TMPhoenix's RaceCompatibility already contains the necessary dialogue checks for you to break one of the quests in the vanilla game (Gourmet Quest for the Dark Brotherhood). However, you don't get any racial taunts and general dialogue unless your custom match mode includes those. Also, if any mod actually checks your match, it won't work for you. Missions will break etc. This mod and its additional patches solve this problem.

Q: But how does it actually work?

A: Vanilla dialogue uses conditions when checking matches. I just added the conditions for these ActorProxy keywords in the required dialog. Where do these keywords come from? TMPhoenix's racial compatibility mode, here's why you absolutely mus …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
