About this mod Machine translation

This mod allows you to instantly equip or use items you find in the world.

What does this mod do?

Inspired by MadAce's New Vegas mod of the same name, Quick Use SE allows players to instantly equip or use items they find in the world. Applicable items are weapons, armor, ammunition, ingredients, potions and food (see compatibility).

How does it work?

When an item is added to a player's inventory and they hold down the customizable hotkey (Default: Shift Left), the item is automatically equipped or consumed. If the item is a weapon, the weapon will be equipped in the player's left hand if the player also holds another customizable hotkey (default: Left Alt).

compatibility

Quick Access SE does not cover spell books and I don't intend to add that feature as it might introduce incompatibilities with mods that would change the way players learn from spell books

There is a SOFT incompatibility between Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. When the player consumes an item with parts, each part is consumed immediately and the effects stack. But don't worry, because when CACO is detected, my mod will disable its own food functionality (only food, not ingredients or potions).

Otherwise, Quick Use is compatible with all mods that have their item keywords set correctly.

question

How to change default hotkeys?

This mod doesn't have an MCM because I don't know how to make one, and having a full set of both options would be overkill. The way to change the hotkey is to open SSEEdit and change the values of onvilGlobalQuickUseModifierKey and onvilGlobalQuickUseSlotModifierKey to the DXScanCode corresponding to the desired key.

Can I disable some mods I don't need?

As of 1.1, you can disable various parts of the mod that you don't need. This still has to be done by changing the value of the global variable from 1 to 0 or vice versa in xEdit. However, since there are more options now, this has opened me up to the idea of making an MCM (maybe), so stay tuned (maybe)!

Summary thoughts

If anyone wants to make an MCM to customize the hotkeys in the game, I'd be willing to upload it on this page. You can also upload mods in your own way, with or without MCM, as long as the permissions are the same.

What does this mod do?

Inspired by MadAce's New Vegas mod of the same name, Quick Use SE allows the player to instantly equip or use items they find in the world. Applicable items are weapons, armors, ammunition, ingredients, potions, and food (see compatibility).

How does it work?

When an item is added to the player's inventory and they are holding a customizable hotkey (Default: Left Shift), the item is automatically equipped or consumed. If the item is a weapon and the player is holding a different customizable hotkey (Default: Left Alt) in addition, the weapon is equipped in the player's left hand.

Compatibility

Quick Use SE does not cover spell tomes, and I don't intend to add that functionality, as it could introduce incompatibilities with mods that alter how the player learns from spell tomes

There is a SOFT incompatibility with Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. When the player consumes items with portions, every portion will be immediately consumed and the effects will stack. Do not fret however, as my mod will disable its own food functionality (only food, not ingredients or potions) when CACO is detected.

Otherwise, Quick Use is compatible with all mods that have their items' keywords set up properly.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
