About this mod Machine translation

See your character's muscles grow as they train and fight through Skyrim.

background

I created a character for my latest "Lets Play Skyrim" video series and made him very thin on purpose because his back was that of a scholar, not a warrior. When he first picks up a sword, I thought it would be an interesting experience to play someone who's really not suited to the life of an adventurer. However, many believe that his muscles grew over time due to the constant physical training he received when he encountered the trouble Skyrim threw at him during his trials.

Hence the idea of "Pumping Iron" was born. Oh, and the name is a nod to the old Arnold movie of the same name.

Overview

Whenever your character gains a skill boost in a combat skill (or exercise), his muscles are considered to have been trained a bit. The higher the skill, the more training.

When a "trained" character sleeps, his muscles become ever so slightly smaller.

Now this doesn't work quickly and requires a lot of training and a lot of sleep. Going from smallest body size to largest may require you to take most of your combat skills all the way to 100 (or some of them over 100 if you're using the uncapper mod). This will take time. There is a limit to how much your body can grow in a night, and you need a reasonable and regular night's sleep. A normal training day will take at least 5 or 6 hours, and for a seriously intense combat day, up to 10 hours.

Oh, and the effects of training fade over time, so sleep regularly or you'll lose some of your hard work*.

*Currently you are not losing muscle, but you are just losing the 'training' you might have been doing to gain muscle. This may change with updates.

There is also an MCM entry that shows your current body size (0 for smallest, 100 for largest) and your current training level (potential growth).

possible future developments

I'd like to combine this with mods like realistic needs and diseases so you have to be well fed and watered to get the proper benefits.

I also want to add muscle loss due to inaction or disease.

SKSE is required! Click here for details on how to install.

Install

Just use NMM, download and activate with your manager. Alternatively, if installing manually, simply extract the rar file into the data folder.

Loading order doesn't matter.

compatibility

This mod changes the character's size values but does not touch the model. In theory, it should work on any model that uses the size slider on the match menu.

detail

Each time you train a skill, you gain a certain amount of training, which may increase if you sleep immediately. This training does stack, so you can train multiple skills multiple times and the training will add up.

The amount gained each time a skill is added is:

Light Armor: 0.2%

Maxman: 0.2%

Block: 0.25%

One hand: 0.25%

Smith: 0.25%

Heavy Armor: 0.3%

Hands: 0.5%

For example. Gaining 80 two-handed skill increase and 80 heavy armor, you can gain about 60% body size if you get a good amount of sleep (taking into account the slight penalty for not sleeping).

The amount of muscle you gain each time you sleep depends on how much sleep you get. You can get up to 0.1% more sleep per hour, up to a maximum of 1% (10 hours).

For example. If you are currently trained and have the potential to reach a training level of 2.3%, and you sleep for 10 hours, you will gain 1% and your training level is now 1.3%. There needs to be a delay of at least 12 hours from when you wake up to when you go to sleep to gain muscle. So no sleep, wake up and immediately go to sleep again :)

Training level (or potential muscle growth) does deteriorate over time at a rate of 10% per day. Right now. If your training level is 4 and you don't sleep all day, your training level will be 3.6.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
