Provincial Express Service

Skyrim's courier is a hard-working young lad who can be seen all over the province, but doesn't seem to have anywhere to live and/or work. He seems to be able to find you at will, but what if you want to find HIM? Even if this would be a pointless encounter, one should still expect a living, breathing NPC to be involved in the world in order to have a place to work and call home. The poor messenger is no longer just dragged down from his mysterious cell, but dropped in front of you to transport him. Thus the Provincial Express Company was born.

This mod is a simple immersion/realism mod that provides a small shack outside of Whiterun along the main road at Honningbrew Meadery.

What does this mod do?

Provides a home for Skyrim's default courier NPC, who delivers letters for various tasks.

Courier deliveries can now be made in person almost anywhere in Skyrim.

Optional home delivery service will deliver mail to a vanilla or DLC house of your choice.

It is also possible to contact the courier at his office and receive mail there.

Contact the courier to set your options. Before this is done, the courier will be looking for you to send the mail in person.

Installation requirements

Skyrim Special Edition 1.5.97 or higher.

Do not extract the contents of the BSA file into the Data folder as a loose file, or do not let mod Manager perform equivalent functions on the file's contents. Doing so will cause things to load in the wrong order and break the game. Skyrim is designed to load BSA together with its ESM/ESP files. Circumventing this will cause some issues and I will not provide support. If you insist on not following this advice, you will not be supported for the resulting problems.

Install-Wrye Bash BAIN

Place the archive into the Skyrim Special Edition Mods\Bash Installers folder and install as usual.

Make sure the mod is activated in the Wrye Bash mods tab.

Installation - Mod Manager

Use the "Download with Manager" button on the Skyrim page. The installer should take care of it from there.

Then just make sure NMM has the mod activated.

Installation instructions

Drag and drop the "Provincial Courier Service.esp", "Provincial Courier Service.bsa" and "Provincial Courier Service-Textures.bsa" files into the "Data" folder.

Activate the module using the management tool appropriate for you.

Uninstall

Simply delete the "Provincial Courier Service.esp", "Provincial Courier Service.bsa" and "Provincial Courier Service-Textures.bsa" files from the "Data" folder. Steam users must cancel their subscription first.

The changes are designed to be fully reversible, so if the mod is removed, the vanilla express system will return to normal.

Loading order

LOOT should be used for optimal placement.

Best placed near other city improvements. If installed, it must be loaded before Open Cities Skyrim.

compatibility

Mods that modify the vanilla courier's base NPC records, placed references, or AI packages will not be compatible.

Any mod that edits navigation or scenery in units 7,-5 and 6,-5 will require a compatibility patch. Navigation mesh editing based on USKP fixes.

Any mods that modify the following scripts are incompatible:

WICourierScript.psc

QF_WICourier_00039F82.psc

Please note that these two scripts are based on the available version of USKP 2.0.0, but USKP is not required as the main version of this mod.

When used with Purity, patch files are available to PCS so location data is not lost.
