Northern City-Dawn Star Patch for Unbelievable
Cities of the North Dawnstar is an architectural overhaul with a major longhouse concept. Incredibly a great overhaul, but non-modular. Together they create horrific babies. I've corrected it.

I've completed the patches for Inncredible 1.3.1 and Cities Of The North-Dawnstar 1.1~
= ^ _______ ^^ =
I made two versions.
I'll describe the curious details here and present my thoughts in a patch. If you want to skip this section, there's a TL;DR at the bottom with installation instructions and recommended loading order. <3
Many of us Skyrim modders have considered Incredible an essential mod for years. We don't have to choose between Incredible and city overhauls very often, because the author is smart enough to cover any major cities, which are frequently overhauled to give us all the options and tastes of what kind of city we want in the game.
It's reasonable to say that you may have passed the point of modifying large city-states and now you are in the middle of overhauling large cities, or you are currently testing better overhauls for them. Either way, while you're doing your own Northern City installation or tinkering with other city overhauls, you'll probably love every minute of your awesome new longhouse style home... until you get to the inn, which is... ;<
Most likely everyone here already knows what the Northern City - Dawnstar is - an ambitious project that aims to provide Dawnstar with unique architecture. Given this, I didn't want to just restore the Inncredible interior as it wouldn't match the updates to the building's exterior, so I carefully removed a lot of the overlap and mixed in the more important Inncredible decorations: got the Incredible scale models and poked notes about them into the bar, for example, because that was an Incredible useless Easter egg ~ I replaced a few Incredible snacks and a dresser that would fall on the stairs, The Inncredible upper bedroom, with a double bed and built-ins (heavily rearranged and included with some other Inncredible details), is located directly above the three COTN Inn beds; and I've sufficiently tidied up the stairs and small upper loft in that wing so they should (confirmed, screenshot) properly gaze out onto the balcony and use the cooker and chairs ~ ^ ________ ^
I've also excerpted two small liberties included in all versions: the first is the hanging of three Dawnstar signs in a three-bedroom rental area of the hotel. The hotel is not an impractical hotel, but since it is not Skyrim standards I thought there should be some privacy available. This goes against my desire to respect the author's design without actually changing the shape of any rooms. I decided to use a row of curtains to divide it into one bedroom inside the door and two bedrooms behind the curtains. Please tell me if the curtains are too much and you want a version with open spaces like the original COTN hotel (although technically you can disable or mark it at will, I do recognize that some people are not comfortable using console commands.).
The second freedom I took was that I added bunk beds in the kitchen nook since there wasn't any staff living area. Hospital beds cannot be used for players, but technically if there is time for an employee to sleep, a hospital bed should be used since the bed will be placed on its own terms. The reason why I don't see the "Sleep Bed (Owned)" dialog is because the orc bed is static, so I set the type of trigger that is intended to be used as a bed on the ground and set ownership so it doesn't end up being used by a random NPC.
We also have an alternative version, Version 2, for those who really like the Incredible decor (me included!), which consists of a slightly shrunken canoe (the center hanging decor of the Incredredible version) that hangs in the kitchen with the entire shrine tucked into the corner (in that version, the kid sleeps behind it). I also removed almost all of the Incredible flooring, but I moved one tile to the kitchen to keep som …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
