Move predator spawning sites away from major roads and some dirt roads and into wilderness areas. I updated the original version via jet4571 to include the SkyrimSE update and forward the USSEP changes. I've also created patches for various mods.
Original introduction to jet4571
This mode moves predators off the road and back into the wilderness where they belong. No predators have been removed and nothing new has been added. All prey and environmental creatures found on the road were abandoned. Some game in the wilderness was kept away from predators I removed from the road.
With the same number of animals in the game, there is now a greater chance of encountering a predator in the wilderness, but on the other hand, you should be able to go from Markarth to Wingail and hit all the other major cities without encountering one if you stay on the main roads. You might find a few here and there while chasing prey down a main road.
This is not a difficulty model, it neither makes the game easier nor harder. If you find traveling from point A to point B less interesting as this mod simply leaves the road.
Not all dirt roads and trails are complete, not the 7,000 steps. If you find one you use for distribution and are tired of killing predators by taking screenshots I know what it is and I see moving them.
Bandits and other NPCs have not changed. So you'll still encounter some bandits.
The reason I do this is because predators will try to avoid people unless they enter the territory where the predator lives. Even if they are not hunters, people tend to kill any predator they see and they know it. It doesn't make sense to me to have them sit in the middle of the road waiting for someone to show up and kill it. Goats, deer and rabbits did not leave the road. Rabbits are everywhere, goats may escape livestock that are not very afraid of humans, deer and elk...they are often found on or near roads so why not leave them alone. Humans also pose less of a threat to predators than predators, so roads are safer. Another reason is that I use the Vilja follower mod and every time I encounter her on the road she leaves her horse and has to stop so she can kill the predator and get back on her horse.
feature
Encounters with predators are much less common when traveling on the road.
compatibility
Not compatible with mods that edit predator spawn points. Without a patch, the latest mod in the load order will overwrite the previous one.

troubleshooting
Changes will not take effect immediately unless you start a new game.
If you wait 30 days or more inside before allowing all the outside cells to reset, they should all take effect.

Original Introduction by jet4571
This mod moves predators off the roads and back into the wilderness where they belong. No predators were removed and nothing new was added. All prey and ambient creatures found on roads were left alone. Some prey in the wilderness were moved further away from predators that I moved from a road.
There are the same amount of animals in the game, out in the wilderness there is now a greater chance of running into a predator but on the other hand you should be able to go from Markarth to Windhelm and hit every other major city without encountering one if you stay on the main roads. You may find a few here and there while traveling a main road chasing a prey animal.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
