About this mod Machine translation

Replaced some character effect shaders with invisible versions. No more green glow from the Alteration armor spell! No more red/green/blue outlines when using drain spells and effects! There is no more terrifying silhouette in magical armor and weapons! There is no uglier effect!

Ftreach did most of the work with his mod No More Glowing Edges. Then I made an update to include ShieldSpellHitFX, MagicArmorOakFleshFXS, MagicArmorStoneFleshFXS, MagicArmorEbonyFleshFXS and MagicArmorIronFleshFXS. It's called Oldrim's More Ugly Effects. This is the SE version of my mod, plus a bunch of extra edits from mm137's No Edge Glow.

How this works:

No more ugly effects SE makes certain magic effect shaders on your character invisible, such as the colored outlines you get from armor spells, absorption spells, and healing spells. It doesn't rely on any specific spells, so any enchantments, spells added by mods, anything that causes shaders to be applied, it has no graphical effect. If you have Cutting Room Floor, it will also negate spell-specific visual effects on the Alteration armor spell (such as the wooden Oakflesh effect), but it does not require CRF or a separate version of this mod. I'll update if I find any uglier effects "off".

  • Used Ftreach to get the initial idea and used mm137 to do 99% of the work in the SE version -

Require:

Official DLC (with SSE anyway).

Installation instructions:

Use the mod manager of your choice, or just paste the esp into your data folder and check the box in the data file in the Skyrim launcher. Loading order doesn't matter, except in rare cases where some other esp changes these specific effects shaders. If you currently have No Edge Glow installed, you can safely remove it from your load order.

This mod probably won't do anything for you that No Edge Glow doesn't do unless you're using Cutting Room Floor, in which case it'll kill the flesh-specific spell shader. v1.1 updated! The Lightning Cloak effect shader has now also been changed.

This mod is based on mm137's No More Edge Glow - Magic and Transformations, which does the same thing except it negates some of the less effective shaders.

No more ugly effects for Oldrim here

No more glowing edges for Oldrim here

Fun fact! If you use Oldrim No More Ugly Effects in SSE, it may break your female bow animation. I don't know why, but it does work for me. So I actually put in some work and uploaded the mod separately. This mod will not break your female bow animation. Additionally, this mod includes some additional shader editing for No More Edge Glow that Oldrim NMUE doesn't have.

Ftreach did most of the work with his mod No More Glowing Edges. Then I made an update I made that includes ShieldSpellHitFX, MagicArmorOakFleshFXS, MagicArmorStoneFleshFXS, MagicArmorEbonyFleshFXS, and MagicArmorIronFleshFXS. It is called No More Ugly Effects for Oldrim. This is an SE version of my version of the mod, plus a bunch of extra edits from No Edge Glow by mm137.

How it works:

No More Ugly Effects SE makes certain magic effect shaders on your character INVISIBLE, such as the colored outline you get from armor spells, absorb spells, and healing spells. It is not tied to any particular spells, so any mod-added enchantments, spells, ANYTHING that causes the shader to be applied, it simply has no graphical effect. If you have Cutting Room Floor, it also negates the spell-specific visuals on Alteration armor spells (such as the wooden Oakflesh effect), but it does not require CRF or a separate version of this mod to do so. I'll update if I find any more ugly effects to "turn off."

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
