Night Eye Overhaul v1.3.1

have

Ever wondered why Khajiits or vampires can only see in the dark for 30 seconds at a time? Or why are dark-adapted eyes so noisy? How did the mages of Tamriel forget such a basic spell? Then this mod might be just what you're looking for!

What this module does:

  • Removed time limit on Khajiit or Vampire Night Vision power.
  • Removed redundant Night Eyes effect from Vampire's "Shadow Embrace" power.
  • Removed the blue tint present in the original Night Eyes.
  • Eliminate persistent blurring at screen edges.
  • Silence sound when Night Eyes power is activated.
  • Added Night Eye as an Apprentice level spell to double cast and increase your Illusion skill.
  • Added Night Eye spellbook.
  • Added Night Eye Scroll and Potion.
  • Added Night Eye enchantment to jewelry and helmets. (Enchantment can be learned)
  • All items added to the game will appear at the appropriate vendors and as random loot.

Optional files:

  • Choose from 8 hues and/or radial blur to replace the default colorless night eye.
  • Plug-in can increase the brightness of the module's default night eye effect.
  • Plugin to remove duration from Night Eye spell.
  • Plugin adds expert level spells with longer duration.
  • Plug-in doubles the duration of night eye drops.
  • Addon doubles the duration of Night Eye Scroll.

Installation instructions:

Automatic installation (recommended):

Download and install using Mod Manager.

Manual installation:

Copy the contents of the "Required Files" folder to the "Skyrim\Data" folder and enable "Night Eye Overhaul.esm" and "Night Eye Overhaul.esp" in the Skyrim launcher or your preferred mod manager.

All option plugins are contained in the "Optional Files" folder. To install add-ons, copy the required add-ons from "Optional Files" to "Skyrim\Data" and enable it via the Skyrim launcher or your preferred mod manager.

To use any of the optional Night Eye effects, copy the corresponding plugin from the "Optional Files\Night Eye Effects" folder to "Skyrim\Data". Don't use more than one of these files at once!

compatibility:

This mod will conflict with other mods that change Khajiit/Vampire Night Vision abilities, Vampire invisibility, or one of the upgrade lists in Edit My Mod Editor. My mods are 100% compatible with all other mods, with those notable exceptions.

For compatibility with mods that edit the same level list, there is no problem making bashed patches using Wrye Bash. Hypothetically ReProccer should work as well, but it hasn't been tested yet.

Release Notes:

Version 1.3.1 is released as-is, with no gameplay changes from the previous version. I uploaded it because why not? The only difference is that the dirty edits were removed when I ported the mod to Skyrim SE. If dirty edits didn't cause problems before, there's no real need to upgrade from v1.3.

As much as I'd love to add a few things, like MCM support, I simply don't have the time to do so.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
