About this mod Machine translation

After Blood on Ice, Hjerim is available for purchase regardless of the return of civil war or lack of loot.

I have a question. I like saving the main quest for last, and I generally don't like the Civil War quest line. This will give me a total of ten seconds to use the house. Hey, I solved Windhelm's serial murder case and the house is empty. You'd think they'd be a little grateful! So...I decided to solve my problem.

You can now purchase Hjerim without entering into battle at all. The only requirement is to complete the mission "Blood on the Ice". It doesn't matter who you choose as the murderer. Once someone is chosen and thanked, the house can be bought. Otherwise, the mission and house will remain untouched.

After Blood on Ice, you can also become the Tarn of Eastmarch. You still need to perform the Favorites task as usual. It just changes the trigger to give it to you. There is an optional version that does not contain this change.

Compatibility/Performance:

This is not about Hjerim itself, just an exact topic of selling a house, so it should be compatible with almost everything. It doesn't involve the "Blood on the Ice" mission, I just use it as a convenient "offer" to unlock the option to buy a house.

I've checked this against the unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch. It's been restored appropriately, so that's good.

Install:

It's just an ESP, so pop it into your Data folder, activate it and continue.

credit:

The character's AceBox is saved on "Tane Skyher". It's a pretty random credit, but even without picking sides and not starting a "Stop the Bleed on Ice" save it's helpful for testing.

Niire helped figure out how to implement the Thane changes.

I have a bit of a problem. I like saving the main quest for last, and I don't much like the Civil War quest line in general. This would leave me with a grand total of ten seconds to use this house. And hey, I solved a serial killing for Windhelm, and the house is empty. You'd think they'd be a little grateful! So... I decided to fix my problem.

You can now buy Hjerim without having taken a side in the war at all. The only requirement is completing the quest Blood on the Ice. It does not matter who you choose as the murderer. Once someone is chosen and you are thanked, the house is buyable. The quest and the house are untouched otherwise.

You can also become Thane of Eastmarch after Blood on the Ice. You still need to do the Favor quests, as usual. It just changes the trigger to offer this to you. There is an optional version that does not include this change.

COMPATIBILITY/PERFORMANCE:

This does not touch Hjerim itself, only the one exact topic to sell the house, so it should be compatible with almost anything. It does not touch the quest Blood on the Ice, I merely used it as a convenient "favor" to unlock the option to purchase the house.

I've checked this against the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. It has been fixed appropriately, so it's good to go.

INSTALLATION:

It's just an ESP, so pop it in your Data folder, activate it, and go.

CREDITS:

AceBox for the character save "Thane Skyher". It's a pretty random credit, but having a save that had not even chosen sides and hadn't even started Blood on the Ice was helpful for testing.

Niire for helping figure out how to implement the Thane change.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
