NAT - TrueStorms compatibility patch
Natural and atmospheric Tamriel has always been my favorite weather model, the weather is so clear and defined and the atmosphere it creates is perfect for me. The only thing I found myself missing was the insane intensity of the real storms, but I could never find a compatibility patch. Look! I thought I would go ahead and make one myself.
It's more than just a drag-and-drop compatibility patch, though. I really wanted to keep the two aspects I liked, so I mixed the lighting and effects of the stormy weather from both mods while keeping all the NAT's zone data intact so no other weather was affected or overwritten. There were a lot of detailed changes made to NAT, so I was very picky about what I chose to incorporate, being careful not to overwrite any of NAT's features while still retaining True Storm's weather. I ended up trying a few different things, so there were three different "hybrid" versions of the patch, each with a different aesthetic.
feature
- Completely combines all audio from both mods into one experience, including over 30 thunder sounds, indoor rain, rain/snow particle effects and wind/rain audio. All added thunder from NATs and real storms is evenly distributed across all stormy weather for maximum variation.
- Bring all True Storm particles and effects into NAT's storm weather to enhance the intensity of the storm.
- Reassigned all True Storm's unique weather into NAT's regional data without overwriting any other weather, and adjusted their rarities to help them blend seamlessly with NAT's unique weather system.
- Three versions of visual preferences. All three versions include all of the features mentioned above, they simply change the "aesthetics" of stormy weather by adjusting things like ambient lighting, shading, fog settings, etc. None of the various features of NAT have been changed.
Here's an overview of the three versions:
-Dark and Stormy Version-Preserves almost all ambient lighting and shading from NAT stormy/rainy weather, while still incorporating the particles and thunder/internal rain sounds of real storms. If what you're primarily looking for is a version that integrates True Storm's particle effects and audio into NAT stormy weather, this is the version for you.
-Eerie Skies Edition - Incorporates ambient lighting and effects from True Storms into NAT's stormy/rainy weather, as well as True Storms' particle effects and thunder/inner rain sounds.
-True Storms Pure Version - Keeps the storms of True Storms exactly, without adding any mixing and merging them with other weather from NAT. If you like the creepy blue vibe of Vanilla Storm, this is a great choice for you. However, keep in mind that this can cause some serious transitions in NAT's otherwise unique weather.
The video below compares each individual mod and the patches for both versions, hopefully giving people a good impression. Unfortunately, the audio isn't that great, so the epic thunder from True Storms doesn't sound great. But they're in the game, I promise :)
This video was shot using only ENB (SkyrimSE Re-Engaged) and enhanced lighting and FX, although I want to note that in both shots of both patches I also had Minty lightning rigged in as I think it fits the merged aesthetic really well and I just love the intensity of it. Remember, NAT does have its own lightning effects too! So you don't need any other lightning mods if you want lightning in a storm, I just find Minty's lightning to be insanely epic. It's fully compatible with the mod and this patch if you want to try it out for yourself.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
