His mod is for Skyrim Special Edition. Special thanks to Matthiaswagg for allowing me to convert and bring this amazing little mod to the community. Please follow all the rules and endorse this mod and let Matthiaswagg know how much we appreciate this awesome little gem.
Absolutely no re-uploading or monetization with this feature is allowed.
Name Your Horse (NYH) is a simple mod that allows you to rename any of your horses. This is a feature I've always felt was sorely lacking in vanilla games, and while Convenient Horse Herding does have the ability to rename horses, it's very tedious to use as it involves going word for word through the dialogue tree. Using a new resource made by schlangster and MrJack, NYH says SkyUILib uses actual text input menus, like those used when creating characters. Due to the way SkyUILib is designed, there is absolutely no need to download SkyUILib to install this mod.

Using NYH is very simple. When you start the game you will be given a hotkey to assign your horse. By default, it is U. Once you purchase and ensure you own the horse, make sure your crosshair is pointing at the horse of your choice and press the assigned hotkey. A menu pops up allowing you to rename your horse. It looks like this:
Just enter the name you want your horse to have and press Enter. If you press the Tab key, you exit the menu and retain the horse's previous name. To update your horse's name, you must look away and then look back at the horse. This is not a bug, the game just needs to be updated.
If you have SkyUI installed, changing hotkeys is very simple. Simply open the menu, navigate to the Mod Configuration menu, and choose Name Your Horse. From there, open the customization menu and change the Name Your Horse hotkey to your liking. There you can also turn hotkeys on and off if needed.
If you don't have SkyUI, you can also change the hotkeys, but it requires more work. First, you have to open the console (hit the tilde (~) key in the game). Then, enter the following:
Set NYHRenameKey to X.
Replace DX with a number from this list of DXScanCodes. Next, you must save and exit to the main menu, then reload the game. I could probably figure out a better way to do this, but support for non-SkyUI users isn't the biggest issue right now. You can also activate and deactivate hotkeys from the console. To do this, press the tilde key (~) to the left of the 1 key while in game. In the box that appears, type:
Set NYHHotkeyToggle to X.
Replace X with 1 to enable the hotkey and 0 to disable it.
There are no known incompatibilities. It should be used with Convenient Horses. If you find any incompatibilities please report them, but please make sure the issue is actually with NYH.
These are a bunch of horse related mods that I highly recommend to you. NYH is compatible with all of them.

For some (but not all) issues you will not be able to rename a horse you already own. Here is a workaround, provided by ralexpdx. I'm working on a more permanent fix, but for now, here it is:
- If you use this feature, make sure you remove everything from your horse inventory.
- Open …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
