Just a port of the original Skyrim 2018 addon. enjoy your meal!

Honestly, I would check out Nether's follower framework because it's features are so wonderful.

It only came out a day(!) after I originally posted it, completely blowing it out of the water. :P

Original non-SE version - Steam Workshop (1.1.0)

Require

Requires SKSE64:

usage

Recruit and otherwise use fans as normal. Currently, up to 10 people can be recruited.

Vanilla fans from existing saves will be automatically "imported".

Fans in your party can automatically use any spelled version of a spell in their inventory.

To teach or unteach a spell, simply exchange spells with your followers.

To command all followers at once, hold down the "Sprint" key when initiating a conversation with a follower.

Additional Information

Total support for animal fans! (provided they use the vanilla DialogueFollower system)

Automatic pursuit/teleportation is automatic based on distance and line of sight.

When falling behind, they will keep increasing their SpeedMult until they catch up.

If too far, they will automatically teleport behind you unless you are riding a mountain.

(This includes if you are thrown into jail etc - there is currently no location check)

Spell learning avoids manipulating spells that any follower already knows from vanilla.

However, many minions have 0 magicka growth and are stuck at 50 magicka regardless of level.

Therefore, if necessary, the minion's minimum mana can be adjusted to match their most expensive spell to learn.

configuration

foxFollow comes with some configuration variables:

1foxFollowTeleport - Enable remote transmission? 0/1 (default 1)

1foxFollowMaxDist - Teleportation distance, acceleration distance is 0.5x (default is 4096.0)

1foxFollowAdjMagicka - Adjust magic for learned spells? 0/1 (default 1)

Type "set someVar to someVal" in the console (~ key) to adjust the configuration variables.

For example "Set 1foxFollowAdjMagicka to 0" to disable follower magic adjustments for magic spells.

For performance reasons, the change only takes effect after talking to any follower.

Setting 1foxFollowMaxDist to -1 will completely disable chase/teleport functionality.

compatibility

Should be compatible with anything that isn't a follower overhaul. :P

(Specifically, anything that doesn't modify DialogueFollower or DialogueFollowerScript)

Optional plug-ins

By default, 2 or more followers spawn derpy follower AI, which can be mitigated using this plugin:

(TODO SE link to follow! Old non-SE link)

It is also possible to write a spell master from a (vanilla) equipped spell using this plugin:

(TODO SE link to follow! Old non-SE link)

Uninstall steps

Dismiss all followers in your party (very important!), then delete the addon as normal.

(Optional) Use ReSaver (or similar) to remove any remaining references in the save:

Warning: If you don't fire all followers before removing the addon, they will permanently remember any spells learned from the spell unit and may be permanently stuck in the following state. Please avoid doing this!

Known issues

It is possible to confuse the plugin by giving a follower an order, and before they finish speaking their line, immediately exit the conversation and talk to another follower. This is because of the vanilla DialogueFollower system:

Only distinguishes a single normal/animal follower

Only carry out orders after followers have finished speaking their lines

The plugin keeps track of orders from the person you last started a conversation with.

So if you tell Alice to "wait here" and immediately talk to Bob, the command will apply to Bob once Alice finishes talking.

(Note: This does not raise a problem if Alice is a dude and Bob is a dog - we can always tell them apart, as above)

A similar situation occurs when giving a "Sprint" command to all follow …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
