Mobile Enchanting expands Skyrim's enchanting system, allowing you to enchant items on the go as in Morrowind, and adds new enchanting systems that allow you to enchant a stave with soul gems, dispel a stave to remove enchantments, and disenchant a stave to learn its spells (breaking the staff in the process).
What is this mod?
Mobile Enchanting is a standalone spin-off of my (unfinished) magic overhaul mod Magnus Magic, containing the expanded enchanting system I developed for the mod. With this mod, you can now enchant on the go in a similar way to Morrowind. A new enchantment system has also been added, allowing you to enchant a stave with soul gems, dispel a stave to remove its enchantment, and disarm a stave to learn its spells (destroying the staff in the process).
The new movement enchantment system can be accessed through a set of secondary functions that are automatically added to the player:
Enchant Items: This feature allows you to open the standard arcane enchantment menu from anywhere. However, the power of enchantments created via this method is penalized depending on your enchantment skill level. At skill level 0, the enchantment's penalties are reduced by 50%, and from there the penalties become weaker until reaching skill level 100, at which point the penalties are removed (0%). The purpose of this is to make things more similar to Morrowind's style (the game has a chance to enchant based on your skill, and Arcane Enchanters will only give you a 100% chance of success), and also to avoid making Arcane Enchanters obsolete to give you a reason to keep using them (until you hit skill level 100).
Enchant the Staff: This feature allows you to enchant the staff from anywhere using the Soul Gem instead of the Heart Stone to open the menu. The required soul gems correspond to the staff's enchantment abilities. For example. A Fire Staff has a capacity of 500, so a smaller Soul Gem is required, which also has a capacity of 500. Note: Recipes are hidden by default and only appear if you know the corresponding spell and don't have the correct type of staff. Additionally, recipes that allow the use of Azura's Star's charming staves have not been added (yet), as they may require SKSE to implement.
Remove Personnel: This feature allows you to open a menu to remove staffs from any location, removing enchantments from people, allowing you to return unenchanted people. Some special/unique staves cannot be eliminated.
Disenchant a Staff: This feature allows you to open a menu and disenchant a staff from anywhere, teaching you the staff's spell but destroying the staff in the process - similar to item enchantment. Some special/unique staves cannot be decomposed.
NOTE: To be immersed, the weapon/spell must be holstered so that the hands are "empty" to use the above powers.
Note #2: Due to engine limitations on the crafting menu, these features are not available while in combat.
Note #3: Currently, Person Enchant/Dissipate/Disintegrate only works on vanilla staffs. A compatibility patch is required to add staff recipes for other mods.
Charming XP bugfixes and tweaks:
This mod also includes a bugfix for enchanting staffs; in the base game, if you were somehow able to access a staff enchantment before traveling to Solstheim, you would get the annoying xp enchantment, due to the fact that there was no special perk (DLC2StaffEnchantingMult) intended to make xp enchantments (95%) enchantable. has been added to your account as it is only added the first time you travel to Solstheim. This mod implements xp bug fixes with its own perks in place of the vanilla perks so the xp rate is always correct. However, this does not work with the Staff Enchanter added in the Myrwatch Create Club content as it has a different base object and I don't own the CC so can't patch this. Hopefully I'll get that CC at some point so I can fix the bug.
Also, for XP enchantments, please note that all of the above enchantment methods will earn you XP. Due to …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
