MORROWLOOT MISCELLANIA

describe

There's no doubt that Morrowloot is great, and over the years people have liked or disliked different parts of it. Morrowloot Ultimate has become the SSE of choice in recent years and it has always been a staple in my order list. Until I started looking for a simpler, more modular solution.

After spending a full day working on Morrowloot Ultimate, I removed all the little changes and edits that I particularly liked (many of which were undocumented), which could easily be combined with other mods, resulting in a game balance similar to MLU on its own. All five small mods are independent, but will not conflict with each other.

These mods are fragments of MLU and are used to replace the MLU when combined with other mods. Don't use them with MLU.

Smaller feature but doesn't do this

  • Ancient knowledge is a requirement for crafting dwarf equipment.
  • Most loading screens (some have been added to their appropriate modules).
  • Stanzas by Rkund and Kagrenac, for the sake of compatibility and simplicity.
  • Books, Annotations and Other Effects, refer to artifacts originally added with Morrowloot.
  • Gloombound Mine faked as Skyforge equivalent(?).
  • Removed mission rewards. CCOR includes an option to automatically upgrade unique level items.

Suggested alternatives

It is recommended to use all the modules listed below with any Morrowloot Miscellania module. For some of them, WACCF and CCOR are mandatory requirements. Together they are meant to offer a similar experience, but more refined, professional and modular.

Weapons, armor, clothing and miscellaneous repairs

Weapons and armor rebalanced, changing the same things as MLU, assigning appropriate vanilla and custom keywords, adjusting and rebalancing damage, weight and value of many items.

Complete production overhaul Redone

Production improvements - better conditions, more friendly and suitable ingredients, missing keywords added. You can toggle the Daedric crafting option in MCM only at night (when using MLU it must be night and you need to have at least one black book). Many of CCOR's changes to ingredients and conditions are virtually identical to those in MLU, with additional keywords for MCM switching.

Container and level list fixes - Complete Loot overhaul

An expanded and lightweight replacement for MLU's loot system that basically does the same thing and more, without having to manually place any items or edit any NPCs, cells, etc. Also makes soul gems rarer and merchants' inventories more interesting/wise.

Encounter area rebirth

Encounter areas have had a ton of overhauls, but this is what I recommend. It's close enough to vanilla that it doesn't make early game or Alternate Start frustrating, but also expands the levels beyond poor vanilla. More forgiving than MLU's encounter zone.

Zim’s Immersive Artifacts

Includes unique tarn weapons and other artifacts, improved enchantments, adding a unique appearance to certain items, and occasionally unique names when items have generic names. Modular. (MLU also made Thane weapons more unique and gave them better names, plus many unique artifacts with increased stats and unique effects, but ZIA is more consistent and changed all of them instead of just a few.)

support

I made Morrowloot Miscellania primarily for inclusion in my Guide Phoenix Fragrance. There will be no patches or other support for the time being, but you are of course welcome to all files, change them, tweak them, create your own patches, etc. Please remember to give credit to the original authors of Morrowloot listed below.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
