morning fog shanghai
This is an official port of MannyGT's adorable Little Morning Fogs mod, including improvements to the awesome MCM menu as well as egocarib's alternate Morning Fogs Refined version, with permission from the two original authors. I also added my own contribution, almost doubling the number of locations where morning fog can be seen. I hope you enjoy it! :)
Overview
Adds early morning fog to bodies of water around Skyrim, making it appear and disappear between 1am and 11am.
Including all positions of the original mod, I adjusted it a little bit to make the fog shapes seem more natural and changeable. These locations include:
- Docks at Solitude, Riften, Windhelm, Dawnstar and Morthal.
- Rivers and lakes around Riverwood, Ivarstead, Half Moon Mill, Markarth and Dragonbridge, and Mara's Eye Pond.
Also now included are several new locations where morning fog can be found, most of which have been added in remote areas away from major cities, with many additional fogs added to larger bodies of water, such as Lake Ilinalta and Lake Honrich, near Rift City.
Other customization options available in the MCM menu:
- Change or randomize the time when fog appears and disappears.
- Adjusted the chance of morning fog appearing every day.
- A few things to note -
Depending on which Weather Overhaul you are using, the fog will look slightly different, as shown in the screenshot. It all depends on how they set up the lighting in the weather, so if the fog is barely visible in some weather it's not this model's fault.
Some people have noticed that the fog looks a bit "mesh-like" from very far away, but unfortunately this is just a vanilla mesh issue with Fog FX. I tested the MIST retexture to see if that would help alleviate it, but since this is a mesh issue, not the texture, it didn't seem to help much, although textures are definitely better. It's a very minor thing unless you look at the fog from certain angles which I really didn't see but I just thought I'd mention it for those who are curious :)
-compatibility-
Morning Fogs are compatible with absolutely everything! All it does is add new effects to the water around Skyrim, so there aren't any compatibility issues.

Overview
Adds early morning fogs to bodies of water around Skyrim, which can appear and disappear anywhere between 1 AM and 11 AM.
Includes all of the locations from the original mod, which I've tweaked just a tad to make the fog formations seem a bit more natural and varied. These locations include:
- Docks of Solitude, Riften, Windhelm, Dawnstar, and Morthal.
- Rivers and lakes around Riverwood, Ivarstead, Half Moon Mill, Markarth, and Dragonbridge, as well as Mara's Eye Pond …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
