More intuitive controller mapping

About this mod Machine translation

Allows the controller to use some of the previous keyboard-exclusive features, such as using all 8 hotkeys on the d-pad without using diagonal orientation, the quick menu (quickmap, etc.), and frees up a few buttons for dodging modules and locking modules, or whatever else you want to use.

A while ago I stumbled across a mod that changes the controller mapping to allow all hotkeys to be used as well as making room for the dodge button. I thought it was a good idea, so I used the files provided by the modder to create my own spin on the ideal controller map. The mod can be found here. Here's my version, along with a few extras.

Important bits:

Sprint: LS

Stealth: B. If you use a dodge mod, you can also map the dodge button to this button.

Character menu: A + B

Waiting for: RB + return

RS: release for use

"Favorites" button changes to RB+Y

Keyboard: Hotkeys 1-4

LB + D-Pad: Hotkeys 5-8

Right stick (click): Charge weapon

Other stuff:

LB+Start: Quick Save

LB+return: fast loading

LB + RT: Shout/Power

LB+Start: Quick Save

LB+return: fast loading

Quick Map/Inventory/Magic/Skill: LB+A/B/X/Y

After turning the left bumper into a modifier key, I changed the sprint button so you have to click the left stick, since that's what we're all used to anyway, and I think it's a better sprinting button.

Installation: First, before installing, make sure to go into the in-game options and set the controls to default in order for my mod to function properly.

NMM: Use your favorite mod manager (Mod Organizer recommended for noobs)

Manual: Why install manually?

Sneak: B. Can also map the dodge button to this if you use a dodge mod.

Favourites button changed to RB+Y

D-pad: Hotkeys 1-4

Right Stick (click): Recharge a weapon

Other stuff:

LB+Start: Quicksave

LB+Back: Quickload

LB+RT: Shout/Power

Quick map/inventory/magic/skills: LB+A/B/X/Y

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
