The Quick Reference Guide gives users the tools to modify any game - including where you'll find links to free community-based apps, what those apps are for, and a high-level understanding of how all the apps fit together.

Modding 101

A one-stop user guide created by modders for modifying any game

This guide is intended to help users better understand the various parts of the game, how they fit together, and the tools used to edit the various parts of the game (as well as access to said tools). This guide can be applied not only to Bethesda games but to any game, I created this guide to help users understand how to modify their games.

**Important** This mod page, video and guide does not go into detail on how to do exactly X thing or how to navigate each app for the mod in detail like a Pro. Instead, this guide will help both new and experienced users find the tools they need to make the changes they need to the game, and how the various parts of the game fit together.

What this mod page does

In the Downloads section you will find the Word document as well as some save files that can be used for Modding. The word documentation covers everything a user needs to know to set up the mod. It includes links and instructions for each tool, as well as how to troubleshoot problems you may encounter when installing other user modules or creating your own.

The included save file is a vanilla UN-Modded save file and can be used for mod testing.

If you prefer audio-visual aids, the video walks through each section of your Word document. For more details, check out the Word document after watching the video.

My hope is to help new modders, or at least spark curiosity or interest in modding. Hope this helps the community.

Modding 101

A Mod Author Created One Stop User Guide to Modding Any Game

This guide is meant to help users better understand the different pieces of a game, how they fit together, and the tools (as well as were to get said tools) used to edit each individual piece of a game. This guide can be applied to any game not just Bethesda titles and I created this guide as a means to help users understand how to mod.

**IMPORTANT** This Mod page, Video, and Guide does not go into specific detail on how to EXACTLY do X thing or detail how to navigate each application used to Mod like a pro. Rather this guide will help new users and experienced users find the tools they need to make the desired changes they wish to make to their game and how each part of a game fits together.

What this Mod Page Does

In the downloads section you will find a word document along with some save files which can be used for Modding. The word document covers everything a user will need to know to get set up to mod. It includes links and descriptions to each tool as well as how to problem solve issues you may encounter when installing other users mods or creating your own mod.

The save files included are Vanilla UN-Modded save files which can be used for mod testing.

The video goes over each section of the word document if you prefer audio visual aid. For more details please review the word document after watching the video.

My hope is to help new Modders out there or to at the very least create some curiosity or interest in modding. Hopefully this helps the community out.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
