About this mod Machine translation

The Equipment HUD is a module designed to increase the fluidity of Skyrim. It adds three configurable HUD widgets, showing the name of the currently equipped power-up/shout and the items on the player's left and right hands. Additionally, starting with 2.0, the concept of looper hotkeys adds 6 loopers that you can manage smoothly outside MCM.

Target

The Equipment HUD is a module designed to increase the fluidity of Skyrim. It adds three configurable HUD widgets that display the name of the currently equipped power-up/call and the items in the player's left and right hands, eliminating the need to check the menu for currently equipped gear.

Additionally, starting with version 2.0, the concept of cycle hotkeys has been implemented. These cycler hotkeys, or cyclers for short, are designed to replace the standard Skyrim hotkeys with something more flexible. You can now assign 7 weapons, spells, and powers/crys to the cycler. The looper is basically a rotating list of items that you step through with each hotkey press. There are 2 independent loopers per hand slot and power/call slot, giving you 6 * 7 = 42 items that can be assigned to hotkeys (more if each looper allows more items via the MCM). Assignment and management of loopers can be done entirely in-game using designated hotkeys for adding, removing and moving items. You don't need to enter an MCM to manage items on your cycler!

All configuration options and hotkey bindings can be backed up to disk (in MCM's Maintenance page).

A mod that offers similar functionality is the recently released Souls Quick Menu by Christian Weeks and Zachary McNellis. My mod aims to make things smoother and less visually intrusive. But please check out their mods!

Loop hotkeys

NOTE: You need to configure the looper hotkeys in MCM first!

The looper is defined by equipment slots (left hand, power/call, right hand) and configurable hotkeys.

To add equipped items to the cycler, hold down the "Add to Cycler" modifier ("=" recommended), then hold down the cycler hotkey. So if you're holding an iron sword in your right hand, hold '=' and then '3' to add the sword to right hand looper #1. You can then equip other things and add them to the cycler in the same way. You can even do this in the inventory menu to quickly equip and add a range of weapons or spells to your rider.

To go through the looper, simply press the relevant hotkey (1 and 2 recommended for left-hand loopers, 3 and 4 for right-handers, and 5 and 6 for power/call loopers. You can also press and hold the Backward "Reverse Looper" modifier ("Shift Left" recommended).

To remove an equipped item from a cycler, hold down "Remove from cycler modifier (recommended to use "-"), then hold down the cycler hotkey.

To toggle the position of a equipped item in the cycler, hold down the 'Shift cycler cursor' modifier (recommend 'left' of 'and' and 'and')' followed by the cycler hotkey.

All hotkeys can be configured in MCM.

You can view the looper's status in the HUD widget using a basic text scheme, where each + represents another item in the looper. So let's say your left hand widget says "1:[++Iron Sword]" This means that in your looper #1 you have three items listed, one of which is your currently equipped Iron Sword. The Iron Sword is in the final position of the circulator.

HUD gadget

The appearance behavior of HUD widgets added by mods can be configured using the MCM, allowing multiple toggles and settings:

Visibility modes: always on, hotkey toggles on/off, hotkey click and timeout.

Enable/disable each widget.

Hotkey assignments and timeout settings.

Widget controls: vertical anchor points (top/bottom), horizontal and vertical offset from screen edges, text size and color (white/silver/grey).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
