About this mod Machine translation
A mod that adds even more pizzazz to your Skyrim crafting experience. Hephaestus is needed.
Welcome to Production Matters
Crafting Matters adds an already great crafting overhaul called Hephaestus. If you haven't used it yet, please try it! (This is a fantastic gem of a mod that needed a lot more attention before it could get it.) So anyway, at one point I was planning on overhauling the ring tree for blacksmithing, but that fell through for me. But Hephaestus laid the foundation for what I wanted to do. So, what exactly can this mod do?
You can now gain experience by using tanning racks.
A disassembly recipe for a tanning rack that yields leather or leather strips.
Crafting tables breaks down recipes, thus producing firewood.
Smelter/forge breakdown recipes for ingots.
I try to add a lot of other items from the game so it's useful to grab almost everything so you can break it down.
Why no smelter experience?
This is the most common bug in games when it comes to making experience add-ons. In a future update I will look into a way to neuralize certain "experiences".

Welcome to Crafting Matters
Crafting Matters adds on to an already wonderful crafting overhaul, called Hephaestus. If you haven't used it, Try it! (It's a wonderful gem of a mod that needs more attention then it gets.) So anyway, at one point I was planning a perk tree overhaul for smithing, but that kinda fell through for me. However, Hephaestus creates a basis for what I wanted to do. So what does this mod do exactly?
You now gain Experience from using the Tanning Rack.
Tanning Rack breakdown recipes, which create either leather or leather strips.
Crafting table breakdown recipes, which create firewood.
Smelter/Forge breakdown recipes that create Ingots.
I've tried to add a number of miscellaneous items from the game, so it will make it useful to grab just about anything so you can break them down.
Why not Smelter Experience?
This is the most common exploit of the game when it comes to Crafting Experience Add-ons. I will be looking into a way of nerfing some of that Experience in a later update.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
