describe

This mode is designed to improve dialogue not found in other modes, helping to make dialogue in Skyrim as sound and immersive as possible while keeping compatibility in mind. This is a collection of many small miscellaneous improvements to dialogue that I find other popular dialogue related mods don't have (Guard Dialogue Overhaul, Relationship Dialogue Overhaul and Alternate Startup Mods, mostly - see suggestions below) and it's being developed in conjunction with those people (no requests made). All dialogue lines added by this mod are voiced by copying and editing the game's voice files to make everything feel like it could have been a part of the game all along.

Below is a summary of the mod's features organized by component. For more information, I invite you to check out this article. Videos are also available in this playlist on YouTube, they currently contain some examples (they were recorded in Skyrim LE, but the content of the mod is the same).

supplier

Sometimes alchemists and court wizards will assume your character's skills and interests by saying things like "So you're an alchemist", which can get quite annoying depending on your character and how much roleplay you have in the match.

Well, they bothered me, so I changed those lines of dialogue so that the vendors could only name the characters they actually knew about those skills. So now they no longer make the mistake of being a warrior with a mace and shield for those who wish to "master the arcane arts".

Not only that, but Warmaiden's vendor Ulfberth and Solitude's Freda have also received similar improvements: they will now judge your skills with a minimum of common sense.

Race

Skyrim is home to many races, and quite a few lines of dialogue are dedicated to addressing their existence. Some of them could use improvements. This component currently includes two functions.

The first one affected Narri, the guy in the Falkreath inn, who might say "Bone of Shor! Handsome man of Falkreath". Since she said "men" (rather than something more generic like "wanderers", as is often the case in Skyrim) and that bothered me when playing as an orc, I changed the line so that she could only speak to Brittany, the Empire, Nords or Redguards (only men, not mer).

Another influence on Brunwulf's introduction, when you first meet him in the Gray Zone of Windhelm: he will no longer ask a Dark Elf player character "Are you one of the Skyrim for the Nords types?" Instead he will assure you of his stance on the matter (meaning he will jump to his next line of dialogue after answering the question in the negative).

To further improve Brunwulf's dialogue, I invite you to use my other mod, More Dialogue Options.

dragon

Many of us play the alternate launch mode, which changes dragon-related dialogue to only be available at the appropriate stages of the main mission. Since Alternate Start - Live Another Life and Skyrim Unbound Reborn (or the original Skyrim Unbound) missed some lines of dialogue, and the vanilla game could also use some changes and the way rumors spread across the province, I decided to make some improvements: After improving the improvements to the dialogue lines of these mods and adding those improvements to more dialogue lines I found, I went a step further and added some alternative lines that could happen instead of vanilla's lines, depending on how far you progress in the main quest. These new lines (like all the other sounds in this model, of course) are designed to flow in conversation, not at the mention of dragons.

Note that you don't need Alternate Launch Mode, I've made sure everything works with the vanilla game (just make sure you …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
