About this mod Machine translation

The replacement esps changed some personally unpleasant aspects of Mihail's otherwise shocking monster mod series.

Mihail's monster mod provides a great (in the traditional sense) expansion for any adventurous traveler in Skyrim. The models are well done and the concepts evoke a sense of interest or nostalgia while bringing back familiar faces of the beasts. Mihail makes these mods in his own way - that's his prerogative; however, I know that I still don't like some of the decisions in his work and decided to implement [major] tweaks and [some] enhancements and have the added benefit of sharing them with your good friends through this mod series.

A common theme throughout the mod is adhering to vanilla balance: ingredients will have 4 effects; the creatures will be balanced in ways that nature cannot expect, for example the Watcher's Eye Spell is visually consistent with the Seeker's Magic and contains similar effects.

The model was modified to comply with Mihail's permissions to edit his work, and if I felt they did agree then I would ask Mihail personally. These are replacement esps only, so you will need to download the original files to use these tweaks. We are not in the business of plagiarism. This is not how our mafia works. When Mihail updates one of his mods, I'll update it here to include the changes, provided it's still consistent with the vision for the tweak. For example, if Mihail updates the Watchers mod with an improved blue Watcher model (I believe it's called Vigilant), then this won't apply. I don't feel the need to incorporate this change into the adjustment since we don't use the blue Watchers model.

The process will be a slow one and the results really won't be that exciting. Honestly, you could do all of this yourself if you wanted to, but I tried my best to save you 5 minutes.

Final note:

This mod will be all esps. Although they lack the esl flag, I did not remove the esl flag from them because these replacement esps were built from scratch rather than editing an existing mod, so in practice these mods never had the flag. If you want to get them ESL verified, no one is stopping you. Also, I wanted to give the creatures a unique mini-dungeon idea, which would obviously spawn new cells. As a result, this means, at least as far as I can tell, that you won't be able to ESL-certify the replacement.

Although these are replacement esps, you cannot replace Mihail's mods currently in the game with these replacements. That's a big no, because there's almost nothing the same about names and IDs. Use these replacement games on save files where you never installed the original game or started a new game. It's nerdy or nothing.

I placed my hands deep inside my flattened list. Whichever method you use to create patches for your list, you should use them in conjunction with these patches. I will mention a mod in spoilers if it requires a mash/smash/manual patch.

Below, I'll list Mihail's mods that I plan to cover in this series. "Absolutely" means I already know what I want to do with the mod, and it will come. What "maybe" means is that the mod interests me, but I haven't looked at it yet to decide if I want to overwrite it or make any changes to it. "Never" means never. Hell, who knows? A reason will be given for each mod in the "never" list. These lists want to change, and I think they will.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
